Virtual Item Sales added to Anarchy Online

Anarchy Online Hover-board

This morning Funcom announced the addition of virtual item sales for their six-year-old game Anarchy Online.

The news comes in addition to Anarchy Online's recent version update - 17.6 - which was released on Wednesday.

The new virtual item shop allows players to purchase a wide variety of items, ranging from hover-bikes and hover-boards to social clothing, pets and even a luxury apartment. There are three packages for purchasing the points required in the item shop; you can get them in 10, 20 or 40 USD / EUR increments, with 100 points being equivalent to 1 USD / EUR.

An example given is a new hover-board, which costs as low as 300 points, but there is an entire line of hover-boards with varying point costs.

“This kind of system puts the choice in the hands of the players by allowing them to take as little or as much of the new content as they like,” said Craig Morrison, Game Director on Anarchy Online.

For those players who pay a monthly subscription - you'll be getting a set of points each month to spend in the item shop, with longer subscription plans receiving additional points.

Why the hell do they equate one EUR with with one USD. There's like a 30% difference... The USD is not as strong as the EUR and hasn't been for a long while. At least tie your in game currency to one real world currency, not two different.

After offering 1 year free basic acount, and free upgrade(but you now have to pay), is AO turning into a pay to play game?

Is Tabula Rasa and Huxley in cause...
