Age of Conan

AoC is steak and WoW is Hamburger

In an interview with the director of Age of Conan, Gaute Godager, he told Eurogamer that his game is like steak and wine, while World of Warcraft is like McDonald's.

Gaute reveals that he enjoys playing Lord of the Rings Online and World of Warcraft... However, then he said:

"I'm going to be a bit cheeky now, but if you've been to McDonald's for four or five years, and had your burger and your Coke, sometimes it's great to just have a great steak and a glass of good wine."

And continues with...

"I think that's what we're trying to do. It's more expensive, it's not for everyone and perhaps it's not as easily accessible as WOW is. But it could be more meaty."

While Age of Conan is doing very well and their launch was a huge success, there's unfinished content which was expected to be in with the release and there's many bugs which players keep complaining about -- how do you feel about the statement by AoC's Game Director? Is he right? Do you feel that playing AoC is like drinking red wine and entering Azeroth and Outlands in WoW is like drinking a Coke? Hmm.

AOC has great potential and thats about it...the problem now is your basically paying to play a Beta. There are too many bugs for a released game, not to mention the unbalance in classes or the exploits not being punished. I won't stop playing for now, I have some hope.... but my issue is I didn't sign up to play an unfinished game. They advertised a DX10 version, well we're playing a DX9 version, and they seem to shed very light on this. It's like saying: "Well I know you paid for the latest model of this car....but we're gonna have to give you last year's model for now....deal with it".
I see a lot of ppl talk about glitches are acceptable, but please this amount is not, really. If they couldn't push back the release date they could have been more upfront with us.

Again let me say I still see hope for this game, but I'm not gonna wait forever and some ppl not at all.

Wow is hamburger maybe...AOC is a prime steak, but VERY raw.

All things considered a smoother launch then WoW (Been playing since launch)

AoC is NOT WoW and for that fact I like it.... There are a few things they need to work out yet, i may let my subscription lapse for a few months to let them clear this all up before I come back.

The lack of DX10 support and NO MENTION by any officials on the plans for DX10 support is a dissappointment.

Yes, I think that is a perfect metaphor for AoC. Because with a little time, wine and steak both become much more interesting and flavorful. If people gave Funcom some slack and let them do what they need to get done without screaming "I paid for a finished game! Not a beta!" then maybe they would be able to see all of the dreams that have been realized through Funcom's hard work, and be thankful for the dedication that they've shown to their customers thus far.

Yes I agree with you lazy. Wine and steak both become more flavorful with time, and I can't wait till I get a chance to taste that Fine Fermented Flat Corked Wine and Raunchy Rat Ridden Maggot infested Fine Steak. Yumm yumm.

Hey the games nice, the graphics are good, the PvE is pathetic tho you dont need your skills just 1 2 3 thats it and you can beat mobs 10 levels higher then you while wearing *** gear, your challenge comes when another *** player comes up and deciedes to PvP gank you who's 20-40 levels higher then you.... but wait there is your skills, ah skills. why bother leveling if with skills a 10 could beat a 20. theres only a couple classes that give a good fight, and before you *** and moan and say oh he's a fucking rogue or assassin, I play a guardian. The the games to simple, and the quests are the same as every other game STEAK its a 79cent taco at best.
