Battlegroup9.com is going to be organizing a server selection for a Free-For-All PvP Server in Age of Conan. Some of the best players in WoW and even many of AoC's top Closed Beta players will be joining the BG9 community to create a truly epic gaming experience. Don't forget to set your bookmarks because we will be announcing instructions on how to roll with us on May 10th, three days before the pre-release.

We invite all those players and guilds out there who consider themselves exceptionally skilled to join with us and create THE place for AoC PvP. Go sign up over at our forums and post on our headcount thread. Tell your buddies, your guildmates and anyone else you think is an awesome player -- this is where it's going to go down.

Want to know more about AoC?

We currently have a few closed beta testers answering any and all questions over at our AoC Q&A thread. Not to mention, we have a very detailed write-up of last weekend's GameSpot AoC PvP Weekend, ranging from game mechanics to a lengthy description of each class.

What is BG9?

The objective of BG9 is for competitive gamers to get more out of MMORPGs they play. To artificially create high levels of competition by coordinating where we choose to play. We are already host to many of the best players in the world, but through our actions, we strive to attract the rest.

Aren't you tired of playing on MMORPG servers with mediocre levels of competition? Where it's always the same, small handful of players making all the noise? Why not concentrate all of these players into one place and create the hype, create the quality and create the competition that brings your game to the next level and gives you the best experience possible?

That is our primary objective.

Letter from the Game Director #1 - Savage and sexy!

The Age of Conan website has a new feature piece today - the first in a series of letters to the community - from Game Director Gaute Godager.

The first installment sees Gaute talk about his experiences as a gamer, and how the focus has shifted for many of the core aspects of an MMO in Age of Conan.

Gone are the days of a plethora of meaningless quests; instead, Funcom hopes to usher in an age of quests that actually mean something, and are enjoyable, lore-packed stories.

He also touches on combat, and mentions that Age of Conan will shift away from repeatedly watching your hotkeys for a handful of abilities to light up; you're going to be a lot more involved in combat, both as a melee class and as a caster.

Head over to the Savage and sexy letter to read more - you won't be disappointed.

It’s not just stunning and detailed graphics that is needed to bring the exotic and brutal feel of Hyboria to life. What is a brutal picture without the sound of steel against steel? What is a battlefield without the sound of war-cries and lamentations? These are all questions that the sound designers and composers on Age of Conan have to ask themselves every day when going to work.

In this exclusive second edition of the video developer diary, we take a look at how the sounds and music in Age of Conan is made. Perhaps most importantly, we also get to meet the people who do this for a living – such as Audio Director Morten Sørlie, Composer Knut A. Haugen and Sound Designer Tord D. Nikolaisen.

From the roar of ferocious foes to the screams of your beaten enemies, countless hours have been put into creating thousands of sounds that will complement the fantastic sights you will witness in Hyboria. As you charge into yet a bloody battle, epic scores of heroism will shout from your speakers and grandeur melodies will fill the room as you explore the vast landscapes of Conan’s world.

As you will witness in this video developer diary, there is a huge amount of work required to achieve these ambitious goals. Not only must the sounds be produced, they must also be tied into the technology of the game. And making music is more than just playing the keyboard, as you’ll see when we bring a whole choir into the studio!

The video developer diary can be found at numerous different websites, such as:

GameSpot.com
GameTribes.TV

So plug in your headphones and turn the volume to max!
