Blizzard Entertainment

Activision Blizzard officially 'together' July 8th

Most know by now that Activision and Blizzard have merged into the same company. However, the formation is not fully sealed yet. It will be soon, it's set for July 8.

After this formation is done, Activision Blizzard will become the world's most profitable interactive entertainment company. At least if you are to believe two analysts, Colin Sebastian and Lazard Capital.

In a note received by GamesIndustry.biz today Sebastian is raising the company's target price from USD 33 to USD 40 per share, with estimated earnings per share of USD 1.45-1.60 through fiscal 2009.

What's your take on "Activision Blizzard"? It's good news in my opinion, since Blizzard Entertainment will be left as it is and continue at their own pace -- in the end I think it will simply strengthen both companies, since they can cooperate and help each other with different kind of resources and knowledge.

    Yay!
maybe this means Activision will get there heads out of there behind from over the past 4 years and stop releasing unfinished or non market orientated content.

(if your wondering what i mean, then look at CoD, the first releases were great products, then they got penny pinchy and started aiming more for the console market)

    To Letsio:
Next best thing after Square Enix???? Square Enix hasn't produced a game of Square's quality yet. The loss of Square was one of the most tragic losses in the history of the video game industry. Almost every game Square made was legendary and every game Square Enix has produced is mediocre at best.

Fortunately, I don't believe the merging of Blizzard and Activision will result in such a tragic loss of quality from one of the highest quality developers. If we believe what they say about Blizzard being given the freedom to continue as they always have, only with more resources at their disposal, then the only tragedy here is that a cool name like Blizzard will be ruined with crappy name like "Activision Blizzard".
Imagine starting up StarCraft 2 after waiting 10 years for a sequel and the loading screen says "Activision" before it even says "Blizzard". Now THAT is a load of crap.

I just hope the quality of the games themselves remain in tact, otherwise Blizzard will be the second most tragic loss in gaming, right after Square...

If ur saying that Square Enix is a loss, then ur failing to see that Final Fantasy, ones of the greatest RPG sequel games ever released, was actually inspired by Dragon Quest, a game that Enix had released.
In fact Enix was hesitant at first to merge with Square after the failure they had with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, they didnt like to merge with a company that loses money.
Square Enix games mediocre? Even though Final Fantasy is originated from Square Inc. after the merge they published Final Fantasy XII, which IMO was a revolution to the FF saga, and a pretty good game, some FF fans though felt it was an unnecessary and bad move. Also games that should be noticed are Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time and Grandia 3, all of these games, had something new to add to the RPG playstyle collection. Nevertheless i ll have to agree with u, that Square released some legendary games like FFX, but u have to consider that, the time FFX was released was just perfect, cause RPG gamers needed a legendary game title like FFX. The fact is that now days, more or less, it got tiresome of seeing another RPG release. Final Fantasy XII could had received the same reaction as FFX if they werent so many MMO around, just plain simple, games that take internet into use is the thing these days and console only based games is a thing of a past.

stop whining, this is good news. aslong as it doesn't impact the blizzard games... it should only improve them. stop the whining, whine when something bad happens, then if you keep whining, QQ.

    move on.
