Good news -- it looks like Blizzard's teasers that we've been reporting on are in fact for a new game, and not for Wrath of the Lich King or StarCraft II like some have been speculating.
Why do I say this? Well, Zyuu reported on an interview with Rob Pardo at a conference in Paris, France yesterday over at Gamasutra. What he didn't mention in that news article is a little tidbit from a Q&A session with Pardo, where he unleashed this:
"So you want me to announce the game before our announcement?" he said. "No offense, but I think there's like 300 people here, and I'll be ripped apart by 8000 people there [at the Invitational] if I pre-announce it - but it's going to be really exciting. I think everybody here will be really excited about the announcement."
So, now that we have that out of the way, we can finally lay to rest the thoughts that this is anything related to Wrath of the Lich King or StarCraft II. Nope, this isn't going to be the announcement of Beta for either game, nor their release dates. This is something new, something big. Potentially something very big, considering they're hiring full-force for their Top Secret project -- the "Next-Gen MMO."
What do you think it is, now that we know for sure it is indeed something new? It's a guessing game at this point, but that's half the fun -- especially with the great teasers Blizzard has been providing. Personally, I'm waiting with bated breath for teaser #4 tomorrow, to confirm some of my theories; assuming the hole gets bigger, that is.
