OF course - and much sooner than everybody expects. That's why they did not give the exact date with the excuse of 'quality content' Now it's going to be a surprise.
And as for the supposed connections to Diablo, look at it from the other side. Many Diablo concepts are placed in WoW so I don't understand why the runes also could not be the same.

IMO, Just a general teaser for the event. There are Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo runes on it so far. Although, I wouldn't be surprised (But would be excited) if they announced a new Diablo game during the event.

all these speculations, I suppose its time for one of my own =D

I hear ALOT about Diablo 3 as an MMO, I dont agree with that. I would rather have Diablo 3 on its own, and then if they decided to after, make a Diablo Online.

and if they do a Diablo MMO i think it would have to be MUCH different than WoW. obviously different in classes and the lore. but i think the game mechanics would have to be different as well.

I know I strayed off of the topic... sorry about that.

EDIT: excellent point vitar. perhaps the runes are part of a spell he is casting to break free?

2 more days i guess if they are spelling out DIABLO, although i never saw how they did it...
would be christmas come early if they brought out WOTLK earlier, mind you with the season 4 out so soon i think theyll let that play out for a while.

The third "rune" is indeed the Protoss race symbol from StarCraft II. The ice is also being pulled inward, as if being "sucked in." Additionally, if you look into the background, in the hole now visible, there are stars.

Hmm... ;)

Personally I believe they are going to make a new announcement along with more info on wotlk and maybe also its release date. About the new game? I think this could be Diablo 3 and i really believe it gonna be an MMO. Blizzard has stated they are working a "Top secret new gen MMO" and I dont believe it would be a completely new game since a big part of success of wow In my opinion again, was because it was based on a already succesfull game and world with a lot of lore and fans.

So they will propably base their new MMO on one of their old and succesfull series. What this could be? Starcraft? I really think not. I don't know if it's just me but most people prefer an MMO based on medieval type (swords, spells, heavy plate armour, daggers , huge fortresses etc).

Diablo is on a "medieval" age type, has many fans, even more than starcraft. Now you might question, "If they released a same type MMO like WoW wouldn't many players leave wow for Diablo 3? Well I can only say that if they are about to release a Diablo 3 MMO they aren't going to do it any time soon, perhaps after 3-4 years when WoW will have lost many players.

So I think they might announce Diablo 3 in Blizzcon however Diablo fans (and me) will have to wait roughly 3-4 years for it.

this is in reply to Minoas7;

while MOST MMO's are medieval, some of the most successful MMO's werent, for instance SWG, while today it isnt enjoyed much, it is however the sci fi type and at one time was one of the most played MMO's, there is also Richard Garriot's new MMO; Tabula Rasa, which is getting even more popular everyday, and I having played it since the beta, greatly enjoy it.

was just saying dont count out the futuristic sci fi MMO's out, they can be just as popular as medieval.
