Frankly, now that this case is on the books, it sets the precedent for similar cases and will allow Blizzard to fairly swiftly deal with similar operations in the future. However, this is not to say that this will end gold-spam, as this "industry" is relatively high-profit and doesn't require any particular skills, or even an employee beyond the scripters.

The problem is that law and injunction isn't respected in rogue country.
While this is interesting for the player, new compagny will have their frontend in country where the foreign law aren't respected :(

this doesn't mention any sort of monetary settlement between peons4hire and blizzard...but i wouldn't be surprised if there was a fee or some kind of fine that blizzard won...which was money wow players spent at peons4hire to get wow gold...which means blizzard has even more of the players' money now...

just seems like quite a hassle...though it sort of presents a reason for blizzard not to sell gold (since if blizzard sold gold, it would almost definitely put the gold selling websites out of business)...Blizzard Execs: "Ok, so we have no reason to sell gold on our website in order to put gold sellers out of business, because if we allow them to do all their own marketing and get a large enough share of our userbase, we can just sue them and take all that money anyhow, without having to do any of the marketing work, plus we're required by law to pay our employees more than the gold farmers get paid, so it's a win-win!"

actually, you are wrong Peons didn't lose and Blizzard didn't win.

It was settled, which in the legal world means nothing. What would have happened is Blizzard had a word outta court, to which Peons said 'oh ***. ok'.

Noone legally won, and noone legally lost. they'll be back ;-)

Anei is correct, this was a settlement, not a court battle. While it is still legally binding, it does not provide any sort of precedent if Blizzard goes after another company that ends up going to court.
