Another "Meet the Team" has been published by Cryptic. This time Danny Southard, an animator, who's working on Champions Online is in the spotlight.

Danny explain that he animate in Champions Online. He's currently working on player powers. At the time of the questions & answers performed with Danny, he had just finished 'a bunch of powers for the 'roid rage in all of us, and he's currently working on a set for Chuck Norris fans. While this seems like quite a bit, he also work on powers for NPC with all kind of interesting combinations, anything from four legs, four arms to no legs and no arms!

Danny is brand new to the gaming industry, prior to working for Cryptic he was a researcher at a biotech company where he was developing drugs of various types for cancer. He say it sounds cool, but he feel it really isn't.

Furthermore, he go into details on what a typical workday is like, he say that in the morning he "pick an animation from his list and find a deserted part of the building to film reference. That's getting harder to do, because Cryptic is growing like crazy. After filming reference, he pick the best version and block out the movement using the Cryptic AR. After getting a critique from his lead, he refine the animation and put it in the game. Once it's in the game, it is critiqued and polished a couple more times before it's shown to the art director for final approval."

Sounds pretty sweet and there's quite a bit of quality assurance going through, which definitely is a big requirement these days, with the MMO industry being so big and constantly evolving and growing.
