World of Warcraft is known for having long down times on patch days. Tuesday, April 14, 2009 was no different. Every hour on the hour Blizzard™ gave and update, mostly to tell us that they needed another hour to get Patch 3.1 applied. That's okay, i guess. As long as they get it right and the realms are stable. Wednesday rolled around and lo, the ever pined for Wednesday night run with me and my friends found that all instances were completely unplayable. "Unable to Load" errors were all we got. We look forward to Wednesday night with child-like eagerness and to have this was down-heartening to say the least.
Not only did we have to call it a night at about 9:30 pm, but we quickly discovered that the new dual spec system was buggy at best. Warriors are having talents dropped upon switching and have to go spend time re-speccing. The 1k gold price tag on the dual spec is really dubious right now. I play hunter as my main and every time i switch i have to re-spec my pets. That very tedious. And some of my talents are greyed out like they are not specced but there are still numbers next them that would indicate that they are indeed still specced. So, who knows if they really are. In a nut shell. This patch still needs some work. I hope Blizzard™ was not felling too much pressure to get this patch out. I would rather they keep it on the PTRs for another week or so and work out these bugs there. But then again. They have had it there for almost 2 months. Am i mistaken? If so i will retract, but you'd think they had enough time to work through all classes dual spec scenarios before officially releasing this patch.
To finish. This is my first blog post on Curse Gaming and i do not want to be so negative to what i consider the best MMO ever. WoW is dear to me and my characters have a place in my heart second only to my Family and my iPod. So all i can say is. Keep up the good work Blizzard™. I forgive you for the minor disappointment and go ahead and draw another months worth of hard earned cash outta my overdrawn credit union account and we'll try again tonight. I am just thankful i still have a job and kidney medication. My journey to "Ultimate Pathetic" is nearly achieved. I need another Diet Pepsi™.
