Curse

Future Plans for the Curse Client

A few months ago myself and Adamar took over the actual development of the Curse Client. In that time we've taken it a long way, bugs have been squashed, ui's have been polished, and the experience has been streamlined.

However, we are by no means satisfied.

We've listened to the feedback brought to us by our users, we've examined them, and we've studied our options. In the next major release we're going to be doing a lot of things.

Some of these things include:

  • New features, such as UI Synchronization between computers.
  • Cleaner, more intuitive, interfaces.
  • Bugs will be squashed and problem code will be eliminated
  • No more popup progress bars!
  • Enhanced support for firewalls and proxies.

For our Mac users we'll also be bringing:

  • PPC Support
  • 10.4 Support
  • A true, native feeling custom UI.

We are dedicated to the client as one of our most important products and will be investing as much time, energy, and caffeine as is needed to address the needs of our users.

I'll be keeping you guys updated as we progress including screenshots, screencasts, and further announcements.

Yeah dupp, that doesn't sound like anything we could affect.  It sounds, like net said, as a permission issue, try running the update as administrator.

Lorddax, sounds like a good idea and I could definitely see the usefulness of it.

Thank you for putting so much work into this. I have become totally dependent on the client. ;)

Dupp, right click the launcher and run it as adminastrator, it has nothing to do with the curse client ;)

Can we get a way to find out which addons are going to be deemed "Out of Date" by the WoW Client?

Sorry, I forgot to mention, its the latest version of the Updater, I think it Updated itself yesterday as well.

No additional add-on's except those supported at Curse, and this error has only occurred since installing Curse Updater, never had an issue when I was manually updating, or using WoW(the other one).

I hope this isn't a glitch in Curse Updater :(

Thought you should know, thanks for the hard work

    Hi Kaelten,

I have noticed an issue since installing Curse updater.(Ok I was using the other one for ages)

The last two Blizz updates (3.1 and now 3.1.1) have failed, and this has only occurred since installing Curse Updater, below is the error:

"The file "F:\World of Warcraft\Wow.exe" could not be renamed to "F:\World of Warcraft\Wow.exe.Trash". If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (ConflictManager::ResolveConflicts/3)

To check this installation for problems, click the "Repair" button. The Repair tool can automatically fix many update errors."

    Whats going on/

    Cheers

Marcoilon, the support in the client should be fairly solid.  However, if authors don't support it on curseforge there is only so much we can do :(

    Hi,

So this is good news !

Anything about libraries and "nolib" modes ? as far as i tried this with curse client it's absolutly not working because of libs versions issues mainly, from what i'v seen. Indeed, the client seems to do things right.

The point is : how about developpers and embedds management ?

Well, some would say : "we don't care about "nolibs", shut up man"; but nolib is soooooo awesome and organized ... i don't want it to become some-"vanilla"-thing, i like it and i assume this could work one day ;)

c ya and keep da good work !

You'll never lose access to the program, Beacon87.  The Curse Client will always be free-to-use.  Premium is simply introducing value-added features and services to the Curse.com website and the client.

Premium will go live tomorrow. You will be surprised how good the free version is still going to be.

Sorry for the negative post, just want to know when to expect to lose access to this program.  I actually love the client in its current implementation, and you guys have brought it from something that wasn't worth using, to almost essential for updating my addons.  Thank you for all the hard work.

The real question is, when do we lose access to the "premium" version?
