I completely understand wanting to have a full working product ;)

The client will be able to manage addons obtained from other sites, but it will only be able to get you updates and recognize them if those addons appear on curse. Fortunately we have the largest addon repository available.

I've no problem responding rationally and reasonably as long as the person I'm talking to is willing to listen to what I'm saying ;)

Let me know if you have any more concerns mate.

I appreciate it. It was my understanding that the curse updater would not work with curse alone, but would also allow me to update addons I got from wowinterface and I thought at least one other domain.

also a specific thank you for being mature enough to discuss this without assuming it was a 'troll' and responding emotionally. These were serious concerns and questions and I feel you've addressed them.

While I wish the development well, I do plan to wait until a full release, but at that time, will definitely install and use this program.

We're not developing our multi-site updater. We don't download any files directly from wowinterface or any site other than Curse.

So no we don't steal bandwidth from anyone, we host all the files available through the client, and do so with the author's permission.

Meanwhile WowMatrix continually evades the measures meant to deter them, and neither hosts their own files, nor do they serve them with the authors consent.

How does providing a direct link to a download page on a website equate to 'stolen bandwidth' - the curse updater is doing to do the same to wowinterface.com - are you paying them for each download any given installation of the curse updater pulls from their domain?

Im not saying what you are doing is wrong - but Im asking you to hold yourself to your own standards, or just stop the self-serving demonization of any other updaters presently available.

How does this updater NOT steal bandwidth as opposed to all the other updaters stealing bandwidth - if you can tell me (even if its a PM, thats fine. Im not trying to grand-stand here) how your updater doesn't steal bandwidth, and how mine (WM) does, I'd gladly make the switch.

And of course we're trying to make money, we're a company afterall, and we're not a non-profit. However, we are going to be passing along money back to the authors and we don't steal other sites bandwidth or resources.

dolagan: The client updates are secure and controlled, also it will never run any type of executables. Addons in and of themselves are incapable of hacking computers or accounts.

However, We'll continue to be proactive in adding more security and reducing risk to our users.

The beauty of the curse client is that it keeps my addons up to date without having to get involved. The disadvantage is that it keeps me up to date without having to get involved. As we move to more useful and automated solutions the need for security increases.

My brand new computer was hacked within three days of bringing it home. The only source of addons I use is curse.

uhm - wasn't it this site's administrative opinion that the problem with WowMatrix is that it attempted to profit from the work of the addon authorship community?

HOWEVER I LIKE THE CHANGES - I may consider no longer using WM in favor of this...what's that? I have to pay a fee to have an 'update all...' feature?

Whose making money off the addon authorship community, again?
