First Two Weeks of July Recap

It's been one month since our last Cursinema and this time we're going to show all videos of interest since the last time. Summer has kicked in and things are slowing down a bit, plus we have future plans to improve our video section. No details have been announced yet, though.

First out is four World of Warcraft videos. Three of them are from the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational 2008 Movie contest.

Atlantica Online

We've been keeping you updated on this new interesting turn-based MMO which reminds many of Final Fantasy. Atlantica Online will start its closed beta the 18th July, only then we'll know how promising this game will be.

The developers of RuneScape recently announced that the game's graphic will get reworked. You can view a teaser trailer of it below.

The MMO Dreamlords the Reawakening recently launched and along with the release, a new trailer was posted. If you're curious about this game, this trailer will give you a general idea of what to expect.

They seem to be making MMOs for everything these days. One of the most recent MMOs is one based on Snowracing! Project Powder is the name and the debut trailer can be viewed below.

Square Enix's Free to Play MMO Concerto Gate is ready to be launched in North America and it will be going retail soon. It's currently in closed beta and a trailer with Square Enix high quality music can be checked out below. Square Enix make some of the best gaming music in the world. I love it.

A fairly old school MMO, Anarchy Online is celebrating its 7th year and Funcom recently released a video to celebrate. A long video with Funcom on Anarchy Online and how it's evolved during the course of seven years.

With recent news of Warhammer Online losing quite a bit of contest for its release in autumn, hopefully crafting will not be cut down on as well. The video embed below explains crafting and to me it seems like a blast and I'd hate to see it getting changed or axed.

Another hotly debated MMO is Age of Conan and below we have two PvP videos from the guild BLOODSHED. "Mass Destruction" is the name of their first video and "Reap The Storm" is the title of the second one.

2nd Week of June Recap

It's been six days since our last Cursinema and this time we're going to show all quality videos of interest that's been released in the past six days.

We'll start out with Clear Skies an Eve Online Machinima video. The creator of this video was aiming for something different and the original size of the movie is around 450mb. Streaming it here at Curse.com is considerably smaller though, so don't worry!

A mix of Half Life 2 and EVE, an actual plot and acting, all put together for a 40 minute 'pilot episode' format film. It's taken two years to make this video according to the author.

The Avalon Legion has made a great Aion video where you get to see many parts of the magical world of Elyos and Asmodian. Close to the runtime of 9 minutes, there's a good mix of PVE, environments and PVP, with PVP being the focus.

An upcoming Free to Play MMO called Runes of Magic looks quite interesting, one of the major reasons being all the features they promise to offer at the launch of the game. This teaser trailer show you parts of the Runes of Magic world, it's very short, so it's hard to get a good impression of the game as a whole.

Turbine released a new trailer of Dungeons & Dragons Online which depicts the Shavarath storyline surrounding the recent live event that took place in the Stormreach Marketplace.

Earlier this week we brought up how the US Government plan to spy on World of Warcraft. It's a big waste of resources if you ask me, but who knows how the future will be -- perhaps we'll only live in online worlds? Hope not...

1st week of June recap

We're now eight days into June and the weather have been great. Well, at least in this part of the world. Great weather usually does not cope too well with watching videos, however, we still have a couple of interesting videos in this recap. So what videos do we have today? Well... there's been another World of Warcraft video release from Baron Soosdon called Chilled Escapism. He probably have it just as warm over in his country and wanted to provide us with something more... chill. Jokes aside, it's a more relaxing pace in this video then in most of his previous releases -- definitely worth checking out:

We all know there's a dozen different Free to Play MMO's out there, which brings us to the second video, it's a gameplay trailer of Florensia. A Free to Play Fantasy MMO currently in Closed Beta testing. We're giving away beta keys for the third beta test which begins early next week. The giveaway close today, so be quick.

The thing that makes Florensia stand out a bit from every other Free to Play MMO is the ability to own ships and travel between islands where you do the standard "kill monsters and gain experience" type of deal.

Soon every EVE Online player will be able to download the summer expansion called Empyrean Age. It's been in the works for awhile now and there's many different tidbits of information out there. We've posted news about it several times and if you're curious, simply check out our EVE Online portal. Very recently two trailers from the Empyrean Age expansion was released by CCP Games and it show us that WAR is certainly coming.

These two news broadcasts will most likely make sure every EVE Online player is on their guard, anything but peace is coming. It's utter chaos.

Empyrean Age - Breaking News

One of the first MMO's for many is EverQuest. Many developers have shaped their games with inspiration from the world of Norrath, Luclin, Planes of Power and beyond. I was one of them, I played EverQuest religously for years and enjoyed the vast world and everything that came with it. It was the best at it's time and noone could every imagine another MMO to dethrone it. But as we all know, nothing lasts forever and so many other MMO's exist these days. EverQuest might only be a memory to some, but it still lives on,. which is quite the feat, considering it's been around for many many years by now.

Sony Online Entertainment attempted to recreate the magic of EverQuest with EverQuest 2, with mixed reactions from players and critics. EQ and EQ2 retain a fairly decent playerbase and SOE recently announced Living Legacy.

Living Legacy aims to celebrate the EverQuest franchise and offers in-game events, promotions, game updates and more. As part of the promotion, both EQ and EQII subscribers with inactive accounts who left in good standing will be able to log back in to the games and play for free until the end of July.

Finally we have a video from the Hellgate: London universe. Where monsters exist around every corner in a hellish London. This is a MMO that was very hyped, mainly due to the creators having worked at Blizzard on Diablo in the past. When released, there were a very mixed reaction -- did you like it? Do you like it now after numerous patches and content released? Personally I will hold my opinion, since I haven't had enough experience with the game.

Some of these games have changed a lot lately. The Agency use to look quite different and Fallen Earth have not been seen in videos much. Battlefield Heroes is in closed beta now, so there's many videos coming out. So far it's been getting a lot of praise.

M'uru is the 5th encounter in Sunwell Plateau, the latest raid dungeon in World of Warcraft. The guild Exodus released a kill video of them defeating M'uru. They were 2nd in the world to achieve this feat. What makes this video interesting is that it's the first video ever showing M'uru being defeated.

Aion, Age of Conan, WAR Online & Mortal Online

We've had a short pause with Cursinema due to some changes to our video software. But now we're back! This time there's several video's for your eyes to feast upon. We've picked the most interesting ones from the past week.

First out is me (Zyuu) playing Aion. Please note that I absolutely need to upgrade my graphic card, so the low FPS is due to that. I'm also a newbie, since I use the wrong sit feature -- so my mana regen slow. In order to regen mana at an equal rate of drinking in World of Warcraft you need to use the actual sit feature, that put you on the ground. Currently you can sit on a chair and lay down on a cloud, those things does not increase your mana regen (yet at least)!

The second Aion Video (which you can also view below) covers some World PVP. Note that Aion is still in a EARLY beta phase, but so far it's looking quite splendid.

Sony Online Entertainment (the company behind EverQuest 2) recently released a trailer of Shard of Hate, their latest raid instance. This being the third video featured. I remember back in the original EverQuest, Plane of Hate use to be quite annoying to raid, but, at the same time it was a lot of fun. I wonder if they captured the same feel in EverQuest 2?
