I have many fond memories from the classic Diablo, it was revolutionary and one of its kind when it came out in 1997. If they don't then they would eventually end up like Nexon (if you play Maple Story you know what I mean) and have advertisements for their items EVERYWHERE in there game Wal-Mart signs saying buy StarCraft here! or something along those lines. And eventually they would end up becoming one giant advertisement and players would lose intrest (like I did with MS) and find a better output.

So it's theoretically possible, but I'm hoping they decide against it.

Diablo as an MMO

I think that with Diablo III they will seek to expand on the story line and open it up for more of an MMO content worthy game line. the idea of having Diablo MMO would be met with great response and a lot of people would play it. but i think that Blizzard will have to understand and be willing to take the risk of losing a lot of WoW players to Diablo MMO... and for this reason I feel like it will be some time before Blizzard releases another MMO... they have to still milk WoW some more, and then Starcraft, and Diablo...

Diablo as an MMO

Blizzard games are just going to have to follow a particular pattern:
Game I
Game II
Game III
World of Gamecraft

So for Diablo, we're just one step away from World of Diablocraft
Sadly by this line of thinking, we still need to see Starcraft III before we get World of Starcraft ='(

Diablo as an MMO

I had thought of this as well. When I'd heard that Blizzard was working on a new MMO, my first thought was "Diablo?" Traditionally fantasy type MMO's are more popular then futuristic/sci-fi ones (from people I've spoken with anyhow, and there are exceptions to the rule). I do love playing WoW, but Diablo would make a much darker, adult oriented MMO

Diablo as an MMO

This isn't a topic to argue about! I think better support in an "Only-Online-Game" would be nice.
But how much money do we have to spend this for? Will Blizzard be satisfied with the income from the bought game as itself? I think no and in this case I am for the classic Diablo-Style with battle.net and Single Player! In my opinion one monthly-cost game reachs the limit for me! If Blizzard just expand from Warcraft to Diablo it reaches my Limit and I simply jump off from Blizzard games!

Diablo as an MMO

well actualy with warcraft it went

I am a current and long-time WoW player and still, every month, no matter how much fun I've had playing WoW, I still as myself "is it worth it?" ... to be honest, if it wasn't for the fact that I cannot back up my WoW character to save for later, I would quit it for a while. But after putting ALL that time and effort into several characters, losing it because I don't pay for a month is a gut-wrenching thought. Sometime I wish I never would have made the commitment in the first place .. and believe me, I've had THIS discussion many many times with hundreds of others who feel the same way. .. but I digress .. I would still love to see it as an MMO .
An Idea: If Blizzard decides to take another game (DIII) the MMO route, then why not ALL their games ... heck, turn battle.net into an all MMO portal with 1 fee allowing access to any.all games ... kinda like what STEAM offer with their Counter Strike / Half Life online setup. It would probably piss off all the free-playin' current Battle.net people, but it would sure be nice to have a variety of games to play after forking over $13+ every month. ...just an idea.

Diablo as an MMO

In my opinion blizzard are not that stupid to create competition for themselves.
Now they have the perfect lineup : PERFECT MMO- WoW
PERFECT RTS - Starcraft II
PERFECT RPG - DIABLO III
they dominate in any area of gaming and not creating competition for themselves like this
its really good plan and good way of thinking.
MMO kinda make all of the things sloppy though I love warcraft and I love WoW I don't want to see diablo MMO because it will ruin all the special feeling that diablo ever had- face the evil alone- one hero vs all the evil in world like huge burden and so on blah blah blah

Diablo as an MMO

Actually, you may not have heard this yet, but they're beginning to open Beta testing for StarCraft MMO

Diablo as an MMO

If they kept Diablo the way it is, and just made it more of a persistant server, rather than games, maybe throw in an AH or some other MMO friendly features, but kept it free on bnet, i could see that working great.
