FFXIVCORE.com has their latest gobbiebag up with another handful of speculative goodness packed within. This time around they answer a question about leveling a crafting class and an adventurer class at the same time and speculate on PvP and death penalties. Check out the full article here.

The site has also posted a rather intersting article that looks at several of the more common types of "gamer categories" and asks you to match yourself against them. The article is up to friendly debate and discussion with members stating their opinions and even adding to the list.

Opone Kikuchi, our reporter at August’s Gamescom, answered a lot of questions from our readers.
Q: How did you feel about seeing FFXIV in motion for the first time? -Kaeru
A: Even before I touched the keyboard, my entire body was shaking with excitement!
Q: What did you feel was really impressive when you got to play? –Okka
A: Definitely the battle. There are a lot of aspects that can go into a player’s battle strategy, like how to handle an enemy that tries to get a positional advantage during battle.
Q: What did you think about the scenery? –hocuto
A: It was incredibly detailed. Even so, the staff present at the time told me this wasn’t even close to what the finished product will be!
Q: How was my beloved Miqo’te?! –Rhye
A: Their expressions were dangerously cute. I think the Lalafell and Miqo’te expressions were exaggerated a bit more than those of the Hyurans.
Q: Does the FFXIV layout seem easy to get used to? –suim
A: I think it will be really easy to get used to. Like other next-generation games, the screen is quite wide and there is plenty of room for everything.

Lancer: Transformation Fighter

This two-handed lance fighter has great reach and specializes in stabbing from long range. It is also special in that is can change to slicing and bludgeoning attacks just by changing their weapons. Pikes used to be very popular in this world, thanks to the influence of the strength of the pikemen of Ala Mhigo, but now there are many different types in use. For example, throwing javelins have also come into use for long-range combat.

Archer: Strong Wind Attacker

This fighter focuses on using bow and arrows for attacking, and using this, they aim well and strike from afar. A strategic class, they must always choose the most advantageous positioning and the right type of arrow to aid them in battle. In Eorzea, the Elezen archer guards and Miqo’te traditional longbow hunters tend to belong to this job. There are also many that are good with stone throwing.

Rating System: Allows you to provide feedback how much you like our articles.

New FFXIV Class - Lancer: The Transformation Striker

FFXIVCore Follow Up Interview With Hiromichi Tanaka!

FFXIVCore.com recently had a sit down with FFXIV Producer Hiromichi Tanaka at Gamescom in Germany, but was unable to get all of their questions answered so they did an e-mail follow up interview which we have for your now!

The new interview can be seen on the FFXIVCore website and covers all kinds of topics about the new game; take a look:

Awhile ago I attended Gamescom in Germany and got to interview the Square Enix team about Final Fantasy XIV. I was limited to 45 minutes of time, but they gave me the chance to email a couple of questions that was left from the FFXIVCore.com community which they promised to answer in due time.

Well, that time has come and I present you with a mini interview (twelve questions and answers), answers are courtesy of Square Enix and the questions asked are from the community here at FFXIVCore.com. Enjoy!

Q1: Will we be able to fly somehow either by ourselves free roaming or scheduled transport airships like in FFXI?

A: At present, we have no plans for free-form aerial movement for players. We are, however, looking into a number of different types of flying transportation.

Q2: How will player run guild/linkshells work? What features can we expect and what benefits can a guild/linkshell get through progression if any?

A: For the time being, we are still keeping this information secret. But, we are very adamant about creating an entirely novel system.

GAME Watch Interview with Komoto & Tanaka

GAME Watch caught up with Mr. Tanaka at Tokyo Game Show and interviewed him about the trailer contents, battle system, graphics, classes, and the beta test.

It would be no exaggeration to say that Japan’s online gaming fans are looking forward to Final Fantasy XIV more than anything else. Ever since its electrifying unveiling at E3, it has created a splash that is starting to make people wonder about the World after Warcraft. Service is scheduled to begin in 2010 on PS3, PC, and eventually Xbox 360.
