Meet the Game Masters at San Diego Comic-Con

Santa Clara, Calif. (July 22, 2008)– Two of Aeria Games Game Masters (GM) will be present at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con International on July 25-26 handing out prizes if players can identify them.

By identifying a GM, players will receive prizes such as an iPod Shuffle, Aeria wrist bands, posters and much more. The GM’s will be wearing shirts with logos of the games they work on with their in-game names as they walk around. Players can meet and greet the GM’s who help them in-game.

GMVert of Shaiya and GMJediMike of Pi Story will be the two GM’s in attendance– just a simple chat with the GM will receive prizes. All the player has to do is mention what game they play at Aeria Games and their account name.

Open beta for Aeria Games' newest MMO, Pi Story , opens this week!

Aeria Games is proud to announce it will start open beta for Pi Story on the week of July 21, 2008.

Now players can have all the pieces of Pi Story they want and keep it. Aeria will not be wiping accounts after open beta has ended, rather allowing players to maintain playing throughout the commercial release.

Pi Story is a side-scrolling 2D game that allows players the functionality of user created content, Web 2.0 Technology and a wide array of game features.

Read on for details on the Pi Story GMs at Comic-Con this week, as well as some of the features of the game!

Features of Pi Story:

Events hosted by Game Masters such as Hide n' Seek and Monster Spawns
Prize giveaway that include iPod Shuffles and apparel

Asian items now available in Fiesta

In addition to some minor bug fixes and balance changes, the latest Fiesta patch introduces an exciting assortment of new Asian-themed items now available in the Fiesta Store.

Fiesta players can now purchase cool new mini pet companions like the Heavenly Dragon and Mini Samurai Doll and can look great in the summer heat in traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean costumes, including kimonos and hanboks.

Those who can stand the heat (and the smell of sulfur and BBQ) can now travel across the world of Isya on any one of four new dragon mounts. They look great parked beside Fiesta's new Samurai House.

IBM Announces Environmental Learning MMO For Kids

IBM Announces Environmental Learning MMO For Kids IBM is set to launch a free multiplayer online game, titled PowerUp, which challenges teens to save a fictional planet from ecological disaster. Part of the company's broader educational initiative, the MMO will launch February 16th, 2008.

The game features three missions for solar, water and wind power that must be solved, either by players alone or in groups, before various environmental crises destroy the planet. IBM says it developed the online world to support educators in engaging children on environmental issues, leveraging kids' interest in virtual worlds and games. Interaction between players is restricted to phrase-based avatar chat, IBM says, to ensure safety.

IBM says it took 16 months to develop the online game, with advice from nearly 200 teens in the Connecticut Innovation Academy. IBM's TryScience team from the New York Hall of Science worked with The Tech Museum in San Jose, California and the Bakken Museum in Minneapolis, Minnesota on the activities and game content.

The game will be accompanied by classroom lesson plans associated with the topics presented in the online experience, and will also include an interactive module to educate kids on 3D technologies used in virtual world building.

IBM international foundation president Stanley S. Litow said, "Innovation is the key to competitiveness in today's globally integrated economy, but just when we need it to skyrocket, interest in math and science has been declining in the United States. American competitiveness demands more interest in math and science by students. Virtual worlds and 3D are an unexplored resource in education. We asked our best researchers to incorporate the use of this technology into traditional educational curriculum."
