Is there an addon or way to place an HP bar above my character's head? I keep dieing because I forget to keep an eye on my HP.

    the other thing you might consider is a HUD (Heads Up Display) addon.

    It can moved to wherever you want on the screen, though usually stays in the center, right around your character. With this you can see your toons HP and Mana as well the targets HP and Mana. Most even have cast bar abilities as well. I personally use ICEHUD. Very configurable and useful.

    You might want to consider getting a Unit Frame mod instead.  This will allow you to move your player/target unit frames around your screen and customize them some.  I move mine right beside my character so I can pay better attention to it.
