I guess I am a freaking casual. The thing I enjoy most about WoW is leveling characters, unlocking their abilities and applying & testing them in game. WoW is fascinating for that, since the different class' mechanics are different enough not to have the feeling of "prodding the mob with green fire instead of red fire" - something, by the way, which is by no means achieved in most other MMORPGs.

So, unsurprisingly, I have characters of all classes played to some level. Of course, leveling them on the same content - now that IS boring. Therefore I have only a couple of lv70s, a couple of lv50-60s, and the rest are in their teens (but I did have a couple of other classes up to 60 on the US servers when EU wasn't open yet).

Now, with the advent of WotLK we have another class - the Death Knight, - and I grabbed the opportunity to check it out. I will spare you the evaluation, as there are so many death knights around as you can't throw a stone on somebody who doesn't claims "unholy is great" or "blood rules". Mine is blood, btw, and apart from a couple of points I could've spent differently, I fail to see how I could have a different and yet still viable talent build.

And that is the source of my confusion, basically. Now, I have a 70 warlock and warrior. And I have a pretty good idea of how to play different builds - I have done all the major lock builds and taken enough time to check out their strengths and weaknesses.

With death knight I am hesitating to change the talent tree as I keep thinking - "yeah, okay, I could go unholy, but what about my this and that talent in blood??".

There seem to be too many good talents in all trees to feel confident sacrificing a single talent point in order to change. And that, surprisingly enough, is as frustrating as having to put points in "filler" talents to reach higher tiers.

The view seems to be reinforced by others - DK is the only class forum where you don't see tons of links to different builds and hot arguing about talent X being way better than talent Y.

Time will tell, I presume. But for now - death, decay and lots of confusion!
