Tor Anroc's Dirty Little Secret

Mythic Entertainment has been doing a lot of hotfixing since Warhammer Online opened up almost two weeks ago.  However, there's a secret that apparently isn't a priority to hotfix.  Why not?  This is far worse than some of the things that have been hotfixed -- such as disabling the killing spree mechanic due to players deciding that AoE grinding was great exp.  This one is a blatant exploitation of the game's mechanics, too.

Perhaps Mythic simply doesn't know about it?  Since many players seem clueless as to how Zealots and Black Orcs and Chosen and Disciples of Khaine are getting to the bauble in Tor Anroc before even classes with double sprint can, it's possible that Mythic doesn't know about it yet either.

Allow me to shed some light on this dirty little secret that will hopefully be hotfixed soon after this blog posting.

Mounts. Wait, what?  Mounts you say?  But aren't they disabled in Tor Anroc?  Yes... well, they're supposed to be.  But take a look at this screenshot, courtesy of Talonus -- a Destruction player on the Skull Throne server.

So yeah... as you can see, Talonus is in Tor Anroc with a mount effect.  He isn't riding his mount, he simply has the speed buff.  This allows him to run around the scenario -- one where mounts aren't supposed to be usable -- with a 50% run speed buff.  Oh, and he can cast spells and do whatever else he wants while it's up, too.  The only risk is dying, but as Talonus is a Zealot it's pretty damn hard to take him down when he essentially has perma-sprint going.  What's worse is Mythic has allowed run speed buffs/debuffs to stack with each other, which means sprint stacks with the mount buff.

Here's another screenshot, this time you can see the person who I've targeted; he's carrying the bauble and had been the entire match up to that point.  He as a Disciple of Khaine was even able to beat a White Lion who used both of his sprints and crossed the lava -- risking dying -- to get to the bauble.  Little did he know someone had another trick up their sleeve.

This is a pretty serious bug that needs to be hotfixed four days ago when exploitation of it began to ramp up.  Hopefully this will actually bring it to the attention of Mythic.  Maybe next time I write something I can say how much I enjoy the game, but after having to deal with this exploit while trying to play the game legitimately, the only thing I can think of is punching a hole in the wall.

Mythic knows about this bug since many players reported it, but looks like they can't hotfix it or they simply don't want to.
