The Dps Tank

Wtb more rage.

Grrrr, wtb more rage.

Pallidans dont have this problem, but building up intitial threat on a boss can be a real pain if you dodge and parry the first few hits.

Its lame, it sucks, and blizzard is fixing it. I hope. If the change that is to be implemented that enables us to recieve rage through dodges/ blocks / parrys is implemented, Im going to be one very happy warrior indeed.

Anyway, on to more pressing matters. Judging that rend should be in my current rotation a few weeks back, I have noticed that a lot of other warriors arn't using it. For reasons unknown to me.

Rend is possibly one of the most useful moves during a single target encounter, as it is garrunteed to do a certain amount of damage. Obviously, when shield slam is up or revenge, your going to use those. But when shock wave/ conc blow / every other move modified by your stats is down, Rend is the way to go why you wait for them to pop back up. It adds at least an extra 150 dps when applied regulary.

Same goes for Deep wounds, instead of dropping your points into cruelty, how about you go and drop some in Impale and deep wounds. It will boost the damage you do on your critical hits, and of course, add more single target dps, while significantly boosting your AoE threat.

Its a win win in my opinion, tell me what you think :D.

Sirdryden, yeah I understand what your saying, but i prefer to be a unique snowflake :D

In terms of its AoE threat boost, its excellent. I honestly have tried the cruelty build and I just found this one to be much more entertaining, I definetly recomened giving it a go, and of course, it scales with your gear.

Though i have heared they are nerfing/nerfed it. It currently gets % damage increases from rage effects and so on. Though im sure it wont hurt me to much.

As a prot warrior, I don't use Rend because I'd rather use the GCD to spam Devastate when everything else is on cooldown.  It does about as much as Rend, and has a chance to proc Sword and Board.

Currently, I don't have Improved Rend in my build, and I suppose if I took the talent, I would notice a good boost in the damage of the skill, but currently I just don't have room in my build for it.  However, if they make the rage change you mentioned above, that might make Improved Charge unnecessary, and would free up some points.  So, that might be worth experimenting with in the future.

As for Impale/Deep Wounds, those only work on a critical hit, whereas Cruelty increases your crit chance.  And, personally, I would rather crit more often than crit harder.  That said, I do have 5/5 Cruelty and 2/2 Impale in my build, but not Deep Wounds.  I regularly get 5K+ Shield SLam crits, which is why I spam Devastate for the Sword and Board procs.

Overall, Rend and Deep Wounds work great for Arms builds, being based on weapon damage, but are only mediocre for tanking builds.  There are better ways to get more threat than bleed effects, leave that to the druids :P
