Right now I'm using this to play Dragon Age and Aion; it's the greatest thing for gamers since the graphics card.

I'd say the real applications aren't necessarily for a replacement for Vent, but for realistic sound tech in games. L4D was mentioned, and this would be a great example.

L4D2 is unveiling a Realism mode wherein you lose the colored outlines that help you locate your teammates (among other things.) This kind of tech would meld perfectly with that kind of gameplay.

This would only work for games like Left 4 Dead. The main reason people use Vent and Teamspeak is to communicate, especially over long distances. I can't sees this doing well at all.

This is not what mumble does. Mumble requires you to connect to a voice server as you do with Ventrilo or Teamspeak.

If you read what this program is and does, it's more related to a instant messenger with chatrooms than a voice communication client.
