Yeah, Atlas downloads have always been a little longer, due to the huge size of the image ressources, i guess. Be sure to get Fubar and some plugins if you haven't already. I run BagFu, CalenderFu, ClockFu, DPS, DurabilityFu, MailFu and MoneyFu.

I am pretty sure that you will find that the new curse client will be somewhat less comfortable due to its limited features, it will, however, be enough to satisfy the needs of the average user. The real hassle is updating a lot of addons at the same time on major patch days like the one where 3.1 was introduced.

I have had the pleasure of having to update a large number of updates on my parents' pc where i spend some of my weekends using the new Curse client. While I do understand that the limitation of a few features is of key interest to you (where the "you" stands for all the people involved) to seperate between regular and premium users, I feel that you could have gone a slightly different way, like maybe allowing users without a premium account to update, say, a total of 2 addons at once and disable the "Update All" button, making major updates less annoying.

But I guess this is not the kind of feedback you wanted to get on this blogpost, so I'll just let it go for now and keep this on topic. ;)

Ok, I went ahead and installed all those, though I'll probably disable some of them for actual play.

Atlas was a bit of a download, took me about 1:30 to get 13.8 Mb with firefox showing about 130Kb/s.
