It's been a while since the last unit update on the StarCraft II website, so everyone will no doubt be excited to see this brand-new unit that has never been seen in the StarCraft universe!

The TF-620 Nomad will be replacing the Science Vessel in the sequel to Blizzard's hit sci-fi RTS franchise when it comes to detection, and has a few new surprises not found in the game previously!

The Nomad will be able to create special semi-permenant defense structures on the map to assist units, or fight off attackers encroaching on Terran territory.

The TF-620 nomad is an all-around workhorse that combines the functions of light manufacturing center and observation post rolled into one. A common sight among the fringe-world colonies, the nomad is a robust, air-mobile vehicle built to operate independently in all but the harshest climates. Although the nomad shares a number of common traits with its smaller cousin, the SCV, the nomad is a far more specialized and advanced engineering craft.

To find out more about the Nomad, head over to the Terran Nomad page. We've also updated our StarCraft II Images with screen shots and concept art of the Nomad, so head over to check them out, or click on the thumbnails below!

    Terran Update - Sensor Tower

The StarCraft II website was updated with the second Terran building that Blizzard is showing off: the Sensor Tower. This tower appears to offer a new detection mechanism for the Terran forces, but it's currently unknown if the Missile Turret will retain its detection functionality as well, or if it was ripped out of the turret and introduced through this new tower.

As the screenshots below show, the detection range extends beyond the visual range of the tower and other buildings, so it can even detect units into the fog of war itself. This is enhanced by an octagonal shape with an exclamation mark in the middle, signifying incoming enemy troops. Check out the official Sensor Tower page to see short clips of the tower in-game.

    Unit Update: Terran Battlecruiser

The StarCraft II website has been updated with new Terran unit information, this time covering the Terran Battlecruiser.

These massive, heavily armored combat ships are virtual flying fortresses, built to keep the peace and dominate the space lanes of the Koprulu sector. Outfitted with bristling laser batteries and thick neosteel armor, these imposing vessels are among the most powerful to be found in terran space. Many commanders use battlecruisers as their command vessels during extended campaigns. There are several examples of vessels specifically refitted for this purpose, such as General Duke’s Norad II and Norad III, as well as the battlecruiser Hyperion commanded by Jim Raynor.

There are also some new screenshots and concept art available on the unit, which you can check out below!

Terran Thor Added to StarCraft II Website

The official StarCraft II website has been updated with information and images of the Terran's strongest ground unit on the battlefield - the Thor.

The Thor project has been shrouded in mystery since its very beginning. Agents of the Umojan Protectorate were the first to uncover a trail of clues that the Terran Dominion was intent on creating some kind of new terror weapon. The Umojans' curiosity was aroused when they heard rumors that the huge Simonson munitions facility on Korhal IV had been placed under a complete security lockdown by Dominion forces. Something big was in the offing, so big that the workers at the Simonson plant had been virtually placed under arrest to prevent any information from leaking out.

New Terran Unit : AH/G-24 Banshee

The StarCraft II website has been updated with info on the Terran Tactical Strike Aircraft, Banshee unit, including some action clips from the game.

Many experiments with dedicated air-to-ground attack have been undertaken by the terrans. Various dead-end approaches were tried and then discarded: ordnance packages for dropships, remote semi-autonomous drones, and airborne artillery platforms, to name but a few. Such continual compromises eventually led to retrofitting variants of the Wraith space superiority fighter with a belly-mounted burst laser to fulfill the role in the short term. Even so, the abiding problem of finding truly effective air-to-ground support below battlecruiser weight remained.

The StarCraft II website has been updated with info on the Protoss Dark Templar unit, including some new screenshots and action clips from the game.

The dark templar are powerful psionic warriors whose forebears were exiled from the protoss homeworld of Aiur over a thousand years ago. The protoss who would eventually become the dark templar were banished for their refusal to join the emerging Khala, the communal mind link shared by all protoss, and the accompanying caste system enforced by the ruling Conclave of the protoss.

We've of course updated our StarCraft II Images to include the new screenshots as well, so head over and check them out!

Twilight Archon has shown up on blizzard's SC2 site

"Every protoss has a level of psionic capability that is extremely rare among terrans. The protoss of the Templar caste devote their long lives to honing their powerful abilities for war. Of these dedicated individuals, only the most adept and disciplined in the ways of the Khala can hope to eventually rise to the honored rank of high templar. The terrifying power of the high templar is rightly feared by the enemies of the protoss. A mere handful of these potent individuals can lay waste to entire armies of foes. "

The warp ray page has been added to the starcraft 2 site

"The reunification of the Aiur protoss and the dark templar has been a time of great trials for both peoples. Overcoming the centuries of fear and mistrust that built up after the exile of the dark templar is no easy task. Nonetheless, the melding of technologies that developed along separate paths for so long has heralded spectacular new developments for the protoss. One such creation is the warp ray, a new capital vessel that many believe will eventually replace the venerable protoss carrier as flagship of the protoss fleet."

The Colossus has made its way onto the Starcraft 2 webpage.

"The towering colossus is a protoss robot design dating back to the bloody conflicts of the Kalath Intercession. It strides across the battlefield on four tall, slender legs which give it an extremely high level of mobility. The great height of the machine allows it to step up and down cliffs and other steep elevations with little difficulty, and gives it a dominating field of fire."
