Spore

Spore Upsets Christians

The hyped Spore was released last week and the reactions have been many and mixed. Overall the game is well received, even if it has some things it could improve upon. One of the main things people have complained about is the DRM-protection SecuROM, but now it there's a new form of complaint surfacing – from Christian gamers.

The site Antispore.com criticize the game because of its concept of evolution, something that they feel are against their own Christian values. The site says that the whole game is propaganda focused against kids to teach them about evolution instead of creation or intelligent design. While the site is negative against Spore, they also take the opportunity to attack Electronic Arts and their employees, claiming they have low Christian morale.

It's only pathetic if you actually believe it....

Shows how bad people are at reading....

    Quote:

But the Bible teaches us that God was not done with man. For we were His creation and He then spoke to Noah in Genesis 8:21-27 after the flood.
“21. The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never gonna give you up.
    22. “Never gonna let you down.”
23.”Never gonna run around and desert you.”
    24. “Never gonna make you cry.”
    25. “Never gonna say goodbye.”
    26. “Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.”
27.”Never truly believe anything you read on the Internet. There will always be cases of Poe’s Law.”

It’s these teachings that I’ve spent my life learning, believing and becoming, that have made me the woman that I am today."

Now all you hater stfu and realise that you've just been pwned!

    lol

I'm going to withhold my own views on the whole creation/evolution issue, but imo they're overreacting. Spore isn't violating anything as long as the people playing understand it's a game and stuff. But that has to be made very clear otherwise it would be evolution propaganda, I suppose.

I'm christian and I happen to like the game very much. Not all of us are narrowminded people who froth at the mouth for something to point accusing fingers at.

Well I say that the church is propaganda focused against kids to teach them about creation instead of evolution or intelligent design. I wonder which of us is right..?

I don't really care that they are against Spore or anything else that threatens their beliefs. It's to be expected! They SHOULD just have faith that their kids are wise enough to stay away from such a devil game.

I have been reading the Bible for the past 20 years and have not found any contradictions, simply poor research done by the person claiming the contradiction. IMHO, to read a history book and not further continue your examination of it's contents is not the way to base your beliefs. I suggest putting forth much time and effort into your "reading the Bible" or any other piece of literature before you make such statements. To truly examine the contents of the Bible it will require your scale of thinking to become very wide and open, especially if you are going to put into action what is stated.

Either way, we live in a country that allows us to have the freedom of speech. So keep on utilizing your rights!! That's what this forum is for.

Once upon a time, not that long ago, a divine creature said:”I've been thinking. THERE!” With a swing of it's hand he created the universe and everything in it, 10000 years ago. It remains identical today. From that moment he was called the creator, the omega, the almighty or the one God. For reasons we cannot understand he started having interest in this one smal dot, that we call earth now. here he created life in all its diversity, 6000 years ago. Since then, not one species has changed. Humans, mammoths, dinosaurs, they all lived at the exact same time.
One day, some 3000 years ago, the almighty thought that the earth was a little dirty because of the many human orgy's and decided to clean up. he caused a worldwide flood, higher then the highest mountains. Which was called the deluge, nearly all life was destroyed in this flood. Only one chooses family, Noah's, and a stack of any animal on earth, was allowed to survive this. They all stayed on one boat... But after all the trouble Noah had gone trough to choose a good pair of dinosaurs, eventually they were murdered by god. This is all true, according to believers, because it says so in the book of genesis, the first part of the Christian bible...
These people still live in a 19th century think pattern, in which countless contributions of scientific research can't compete with these bible writers who concluded that every plant and animal species was within walking distance of Noah's house. They still believe to find the ultimate knowledge by opening a book that claims a supernatural authority.
They do their best to make it all look like a scientific based fact, the only right explanation for everything. They demand to be at least equal to the evolution theory.
The Islamic faith knows a rise in Europe and schools and universities are being confronted by a book called ’Atlas of creation’ by Harun Yahya. Our own politicians want students to learn these lyrics and phrases which are totally the opposite of the evolution theory, "to teach them to be open for other perceptions"...
Unfortunately, it’s not always clear to people that religious people never get past pseudo-scientifically mumbo jumbo; and that many among them almost demand to broadcast “the Flintstones" as a documentary during biology.
A small percentage of these people still beliefs the earth is flat among this minority are people they believe that the earth is a round shaped planet but they don’t believe that it turns around the sun. they still hang on the belief of the geocentrical universe because the bible says it is so. This is a beautiful but at the same time sad example of dogmatic thinking that exists even in America and Europe today.
Despite the numerous contradictions and what not, they are all convinced of one thing. If they can somehow blacken the evolution theory, then that has to be the absolute proof that their theory is the only correct one. They would do anything for that, even defending the largest bullcrap. Even if the theory was complete dogpoo, it would not place the genesis story in an advantage. It would be equal intelligent to say that a group of highintellectual created the human race and dropped them here on earth to perform all kinds of scientific experiments on them. Hmm, serves an interesting explanation for the movements of so many people, that they were kidnapped by aliens and probed...

With this in mind it is only right to say that every believer is a person with a mental problem that comes out in the shape of an imaginary friend called god...

Hey, fellow Christians, guess what, the book was written 200 years after Jesus died... It has been translated countless times, re-written, and above all, used to gain power for countless empires. The creation "theory" was the only way to explain the glory of God's creation. Why can't the God I believe in be intelligent enough to make countless species on a vast universe change and evolve to adjust to a chaotic environment? Yea, God created me, and everything, but that's just it... If evolution is the closest thing to a logical explanation as to why I am who I am, is that not the result of God? Does your faith have to rest in a book that you yourself contradict on a regular basis? God is truth, science is the pursuit of truth, therefore science is the pursuit of God.

Also, atheist scientists who believe in nothing higher, and say that their way is the only way are just as bad as men in robes that say if you don't believe this certain way, your burning in Hell. They are both going to condemn you for whatever you think anyway.

I bet that's the answer to the meaning off life. "In the end, all is a rick-roll." I bet after you die you get rickrolled.

...... Darkamon... I think you just became my hero. Did you know there is a theroy... (Can't remember where it comes from so I can't give credit.) that if enough people believe that something is a god.... it is? Personally... my friends and I think a peanut butter sandwhich in Canada is God... just for the hell of it. Be a believer with me? ^_^

Here is another interesting theory, there are two types of time. Chrono is the way we measure time, hours, days, weeks, years, etc. Krono being the way the universe itself measures time. So who's to say that the earth wasn't created in seven days? Just, not seven human days. Maybe evolution and and the the creation theory are one and the same.

And just so you know.... I'm neither atheist, nor christian.
