The Raven's Nest

Bliz Nerfed It!

I finally found a class I like and Bliz nerfed it! I've been playing for about two months and have tested out every class/race combo you can possibly think of and finally snagged on one I ADORED! The Blood Elf Paladin. But with the new patch out installed it apears that Blizard has nerfed my beloved paladin class. Can anyone tell me (in a language that a noob like me can understand lol) how the new patch has effected paladin. Is paladin way weaker now? It seams that way to me but I also just hit a new area and I wanted to know if it's the area that is just tough or did they seriously weaken my paladin.

Coments and advice are welcome! :)

Thanks!
~Stacy Raven

I'd almost feel bad, but my rogue has been 3 shot by retadins for me to justify that.  Hell, there's was even a 72 pally that almost killed it, but the 3 shots only took me down to 30% health.  Still was a pain to kill em after that.  However, you still get your precious "I pwn your face while sitting around in my OP-non-damage-capped shield that STILL doesn't have a damage cap."

So, um, yeah.  Here's a tissue.  That's the most you're going to get outta me when complaining about pally nerfs.

Paladins have been anything BUT nerfed since the release of LK they nerfed seal of command but buffed seal of corruption to do more DPS for the melee DPS

For leveling yeah, they nerfed the paladin pretty good but for lvl 80 raid, I do more dps than ever before with the new SoV.  I have yet to try it out in arena but i'm guessing it's going to be effective there too.  Once all 5 stacks are up it's going to tick tick tickedy away along with all other sources of dps.  Instead of complaining about a nerf, learn to harness what you have and make it effective to the best of the abilities givin to you, and by that I mean learn to play your class.

Actually I think they are Strengthend, Ya, they lost some attacks, but they were those stupid "you take damage as you deal damage" type things right? They did give us that nice gift of the Exorcism back to kick some tail, but they had to put a timer on it cause of all the other instant hit attacks we have, but thats a way to nerf it a bit while still giving them more PvP ability. Im a freakin Holy Pali, I appriciate the boost of that attck at least. As far as where your at, you may just need a quicker reaction time, are just better stats on your gear.

p.s. i also thot they changed Exorcise to non-instant, that sorta hurts but Blizz do what Blizz do

A lot has been said/posted in a lot of places about the ret paladin nerf; it does have a serious, negative impact on ret pally gameplay. SoC for all intents and purposes has become SoR and therefore there is no meaningful ret 'burst' chain anymore until you are high level. Mana cost reduction is not balanced to the overall lesser dps across the board, etc, etc. However, one significant point has been overlooked as far as I can see. Even though Exorcism can now be cast against players, the fact that it is no longer an instant cast significantly lowered its ability to generate dps because it is now interrupted often. In other words, the only 'burst' chain that remains is a 'maybe' exo hit. To make matters worse, you still lose the mana. My point is this: Blizz lowered the ret pally 'burst' too far in their effort to better balance it when they changed exo from instant cast.

Eliminating the strongest dps seal (blood) and then also weakening the only remaining [lower level player] dps seal (SoC), while at the same time reducing the effectiveness of the only [low level] dps spell (exo) by changing it from instant cast to 'interrupted' cast has eliminated the dps burst as a serious attack. We used to have a one-two punch... now it's only a one and a half punch and after that a slow affair that can easily outpace mana. Instead of effectively balancing the alleged too-powerful dps burst, it's almost eliminated altogether (at best iffy). In PvP AND PvE, our (reduced) dps is now averaged vs burst.

As dps paladins we needed this burst to have differentiated value in groups. From what I've read about raids, we will probably have an even harder time being appreciated/invited. Dual tree Holy and Prot paladins might not find the changes devastating, but as a Ret I can tell you they are. My only char is a lvl 46 ret paladin and I have no desire to play any other. Last night I tested these issues with an open mind; unfortunately, my comments above are the result. Blizz, please either make exo an instant cast again or at the very least reduce its mana cost. Better yet, gimme SoC back the way it was so I then at least have a choice between seals, SoR/SoC. Us lower level ret pallys appear to have been overlooked when higher level imbalances were addressed.

use wow class forums and other wow resource sites like wow.com

but sadly get use to the nerf stick cause they love to nerf/fix/nerf/nerf/nerf/minor fix/mega nerf/etc.../etc.../etc...  over and over to paladins it one of the worst balanced classes to date sadly.  Just Get dual spec and find 2 trees of the paladin you like so when the muck up one tree you still can play one of the others just hope they dont mess up 2 trees at once like they did that one time....and before i get flamed yes i have a paladin yes it's a 80 i leveled myself.   Kaisoul on server Dentarg formerly of Bleeding Hollow Horde side.

Best bet is to check www.wow.com/.../world-of-warcraft-patch-3-2-paladin-guide

Nice overview of the changes that impact us pallies.

Most of the changes are quite nice. My main is holy with same level gear as prot. Running 10 and 25 ToC last night the biggest kick in the nuts was the wide spread mana regen nerf, seemed to really feel this in the 10man run but with changing some gear around for MP5 again should be all good :)

I adore the Paladin as well, like yourself played other classes etc... Only enjoyed the pally; people say "once you go Druid you can't go back" Wrong heh! Paladin's were and are still great hun! :) try not to look at it bad. I honestly think they didn't nerf our Pally's at all! they're still high in damage, they even buffed Prot spec a little as well!!

Oh one more thing, check to make sure that you have learned all of your spells, I know it sounds funny but you would not believe how many come to me with the same problem and all because they forgot to learn thier new spells.

/agree with Pokerbehind, Sorry but there are some that are jealous of us pallies because we are the only plate wearing class that can multi-task.  I play a pally on both horde and alliance, and have been since WOW came out.  To put it to you as you said in a language you can understand is that they took some abilities away to make others stronger, yes SOM is gone and so is SOB but you have SOC(seal of command) which is now classified as melee, meaning that everytime your weapon hits a mob it will deal damage, unlike before where the damage was in the judgement.  Other changes are dependant on what it is you do, if you are heals then I am still playing around with my helaing since the patch.  I have an 80 holy/ret pally on ally and 24 ret pally on horde on Eonar.  If by chance you would like to talk to me further, contact me at Kattarynaofpif@hotmail.com.  That is my guild email.  I am our pally class lead and am willing to help anyone I can.

Wow,layeur and impurity are pure assholes.  Someone asks a legitimate question, and you talk ****. I don't play a paladin, but only thing I could suggest is to read the patch notes and scroll down to Paladin section.  That will tell you what happened.  If that doesn't help, you might want to ask <if you are in a guild> a fellow pally and pick his/her brain on it.  If not, goto the wow forums under classes and look up paladin, you will see alot of post and such on what happened.  Hope that helps somewhat.
