It simply lets you have the feel of being somewhere without having to be around random people that aren't part of the story.

It is in no way going to apply retroactively. Only things in Wrath will be affected. Since there's pretty much no way to get to Ebon Hold if you aren't a Death Knight people can't just come up and help others on the quest.

We won't know if it will work for people in that person's group, but as far as being on the quest is concerned, I'm not sure if any of the quests that use phasing require a group. Remember, not ALL quests will do phasing. Just some places...

re: Realization - Overview

ive been playing for about a year now and alot of what u said is right on i can remember when i first started trying to find help was next to impossible i remember alot of times when i had instance quests piled up to the point of abandoning them cuz i couldnt find help or groups i finally made it to 60 with a holy pally and became co lord of the guild kiss my axe (25 members) and when i get bored i try to help people who call out for help to try to teach them things i didnt know when i started cuz it seems alot of people dont want anything to do with u unless youre a wow veteran (blades edge) kiss my axe "kreppy" always lookin for the true newbs that need a hand

re: A Whole New World (of Warcraft) - Overview

so if what youre saying is true than does that mean anyone who completed the quest wont be able to help someone who hasnt completed it or will they be able to group up and be seen? if the person(s) who have completed that part of the quest cant help someone who hasnt completed it yet it might be better that way so the incompleted parties have to team up with people of the same lvl instead of breezing by with help from a higher lvl like i see alot of people doin just a thought.

Disparate World (of Warcraft) Part 3 - Epic Myths

Nice blog, keep up the good work ;-)

Disparate World (of Warcraft) Part 3 - Epic Myths

I have seen more and more push for everyone in a party to be "geared up" before they go into an instance. This is kind of silly since most people want to go into instances to get "geared up" in the first place. I, for one, despise what PvP has turned into so I avoid it like the plague, so I rely on instances for gear. I recently moved from one server to another because I had family on the server. My guild on the previous server completed Karazhan in two seperate sessions with most people wearing blues that they acquired through PvE quests and crafting. We had a blast; nobody was worried that someone was not epicly geared.
The guild my family and I joined on the new server, however, were epic nuts. You were not worthy to go into Kara unles you were halfway outfitted with epic gear. Now to this very day, this guild, in all their epic glory, has not completed Kara. I had enough of their "l33tness" so I left them to find a more fun bunch of folks. The rest of my family is also contemplating a move but they are new players so this is nothing new to them and is seemingly normal. Telling someone new how things used to be and what they are now is like beating your head against the wall.

Disparate World (of Warcraft) Part 3 - Epic Myths

Our guild runs kara with guildies in all sorts of gear . A lot of the people that say it needs certain levels of armor are probably after an easy ride for badges .

Kara can be fun as long as your in a guild that has fun and knows how to play .

We have so far cleared 5 bosses with very little pain . Of the 10 maybe 4 have the "desired" minimum gear .

By the time we have finished everyone will have nice shiny epics .

A lot of people that say you cant do it without all this fancy gear ought to take a step back and figure out how the hell the first guilds that stepped into and cleared kara managed it without full tier 5 or 6 armor .

Its called effort and playing as a team .

Disparate World (of Warcraft) Part 3 - Epic Myths

Thank you for your thoughts and comments. I have to respec every week for arena, i wish the cost was lower, but it is worth it. For me there is great enjoyment to be had doing bg's, arena, heroics, and raids. I just enjoy playing the game.

I even found the incessant whining and complaints of the alliance people in my battlgroup who were losing consistently in alterac valley before the patch quite amusing.

WOW is great fun!

Disparate World (of Warcraft) Part 3 - Epic Myths

I think most people PvP because people like to compete against eachother, people like to feel they're good. Back pre-TBC, you felt good when you got T1 or T2. I was in a top10 EU guild pre-TBC, and we all felt good when we could stand infront of IF bank flashing our epics. People was amazed when we got full T1, or Hand of Ragnaros, whatever gear we got first on server.

Then we started doing Naxx, and the rumors about TBC, and level 70 hit us like a bomb. All the time we spent. All those late nights figuring out tactics for ALL the instances we did. It was all for nothing. One thing is, when you see alot of movies (like our movies) showing kills of all bosses, reading tactics explaining step-by-step how to kill anything in the game, then you're just getting somewhat free epics. But when you've been making those tactics, or in some way contributed to getting the server-first kills, you just feel so screwed over by Blizzard when they reset EVERYTHING by raising the level cap.

I think this change in focus towards PvP is all about the new level cap, and then ofcourse the fact that it's much easier to obtain epics through PvP. But as some of you say, I don't think PvP epics are of any use in PvE. Unless you think heroics are PvE, then ofcourse they do help. But when I think of PvE, I think of raid instances, like 20/40 mans pre-TBC, and anything but heroics in TBC.

But as you say yourself, that it really changed in S3/S4, you never mention anything about the competitions, and how much more you have the chance of earning through PvP. Before TBC, you were showing off through forums etc. about your raid progress in PvE, now you're showing off with your high rating, and eventually participating in PvP tournaments with chances to actually win money.

Your posts start off good, but imo. it turns out to be a huge whine. After all, you can just play another game if this doesnt make you happy. People tend to forget that this is a computer game. If you play this game to have fun, you play it until it's not making you have fun. People try and change games all the time, with all their posts on forums, crying about classes being imba, about stuff that has to be changed, etc etc. But nomatter how you put it, nothing can justify whine about a computer game.

When I realized that all my gear (+120 epics, +230 days played PRE-TBC) would be worthless once I hit 70, I did what alot of other players did, I sold my account. I got around $1000 back then, and I continued enjoying my life with other things, that made me happy.

After they added arenas, and it got easy to get PvP epics I made a rogue though, and I'm with less than 50 days play, running around with S3 weapons, 3/5 S4, full Guardians, and cloak/ring from Badge of Justice rewards. I'm just loving how easy it is to get epics now, and I can play whenever I want to. All I need now, is my 2v2 partner, or my 3v3 team to be online, then I can play. Just a few hours per day, not 50 hours per week. Exactly the way I like it.

Anyways this wasn't meant to be all about flaming you, I know you're not writing all this just because you hate everyone, and want PvP removed or anything. I do understand alot of your oppinions, but again, this is just a game.

Disparate World (of Warcraft) Part 3 - Epic Myths

WoWs days are over. WotLK is going to bomb. The last few decent players who bother to play will leave. Welcome to walmart, population over 11 million and falling.

Heres the top ten reasons.

#10:Resil is the worst stat in any RPG EVER.

#9:Guilds motives and actions are strickly rewarding to only thier members.

#8:Over population of poor gamers has paved an awefull future in wow for good gamers.

#7:Arena. Gear>Spec>Skill. Its like waiting at the DMV to get served. The power of a class or team should be based on Skill to control, and decimate enemies in one swift motion or recovery. Spec should be used to compliment this teamwork and skill. Not cookie cut classes in to effective methods and repeated tactics. Gear should be the final factor of two highly skilled teams who work together, not a reward for logging on one night a week and doing 5s. The door buster at this walmart is pvp epics. See #8 for more details.

#6:Global goal has left the building. Ya know... horde.. alliance.... bgs... arenas... who gives a crap. I can camp a town for 3 hours killing every NPC and PC who comes there. Nothing changes... I can own bg after bg for weeks on end.... I get gear...to change nothing. I kill illadin 45 times.... I have gear...my guidlies have gear....people gquit and ebay or log on to do arena... nothing changes. Theres no global reward or penalty for success or failure. Is the point to kill other people and laugh at them ....great.... why dont I just play DotA. How about we have a point to all this crap we do. Like ultimate rewards for say... raiding org and killing Thrall. Beond bragging rights, a couple epics and some honnor, you just burned down org, and injured the pride of everyone there. IE: You decimate a zones major/minor city... change the controling faction or something, dont just respawn the mobs in 15mins. Change something. A 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 directions you can take global goals/rewards.

#5:Nerfing content to feed the majority.

#4:Crafting... wow. Could you make anything more worthless? Lets pump out 100 pieces of crap that have no value. Mabey if you pump out 9000 pieces of crap you might have something of value to... yourself.....for a short period of time. Alch, enchanting, and JC I will set aside here. The results have a sustainable use. But the method of getting to the point of use in these trade skills is equaly awefull.

#3: Expansion "catch up". Just because your putting out new content doesnt mean you feed the results of hardworking players to the masses in an attempt to lvl the playing field befor an expansion. See #5 and #8.

#2:Paid character transfers/ paid renames.

#1:The evolution of WoW. Every effort made to change this game by blizzard is 105% money money money. Whore yourself out for cash and people will start talking poorly about you around town. I know I have. :P

Disparate World (of Warcraft) Part 3 - Epic Myths

Heres some people who know how to make a game.
http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/home/flash/2008-07_podcast.html
http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/home/flash/2008-06_standards.html
http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/home/flash/pp_2008-05_crafting.html
http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/home/flash/pp_2008-04_guilds.html

Disparate World (of Warcraft) Part 3 - Epic Myths

idc when it comes out :P the closer to summer break the better for me cause if it comes out during school im going to fall behind. I looked into the stupid pally tanking gear thing for Naxx and Im a little confused on why there is no +Spell dmg and no stats for intell on the gear.
