New Recruit-A-Friend - Earn a Zhevra mount, Triple XP

With the impending launch of Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard came up with an idea to get more players into the World of Warcraft universe. By revising their Recruit-A-Friend referral feature and made it more beefy than before. With the new Recruit-a-Friend, You may earn an exclusive account if your referred friend has paid for 2 month worth of in-game gametime.

With the new Recruit-A-Friend program you can earn an exclusive Zhevra mount, receive a FREE month of game time, and gain access to other exciting in-game benefits. From the moment your friend creates a character and starts playing you’ll both earn triple the experience when grouped together and have the ability to summon one another from anywhere in the world. Also, for every two levels of experience your friend earns, they can grant one level of experience to any one of your characters.

So not cool. Just totally love how blizz takes a dump on all the core players who leveled the good old fashioned way. Where is our reward? epic fail.

your forgetting how fun it was for us to level, its a pure BORE when you level a character now, all you do is kill, there is barely any interaction... theres no talk in general, most guilds wont take you, you can NEVER find a group for an instance, remember sm, vc, mara, etc? they dont... they never get to run them unles its from a lvl 70, and that takes the fun away from an instance.

i would hate to come to wow right now starting from scratch, it would be boring as hell.... all the "cool" stuff you could do doesnt matter anymore since you cant do it now with nobody there.

imo this is good... but a bit too OP imo :p (the recruit a friend thing)

edit - why rate me down? i am telling the truth, right NOW pre bc content is very dull, the only thing you can do is level, no instances, really cant buy new gear because of inflation, and its just really boring, but back when we started, we had instances, uninflated gear prices, and all of our friends were our level (for the most part.)

im just saying that coming into wow right now kinda sucks, would have been MUCH better if they had came in when we started playing.

imo this is good... but a bit too OP imo :p (the recruit a friend thing)

From the way you type it sounds like you have been playing long enough that all your friends are already playing and or already left.. your reward is from resurrection scrolls.

none the less, I felt the same way about it to from just reading this article, but after reading the real terms and conditions I changed my opinion

This is a perfectly marketed, and well designed recruit-a-friend, in my opinion it is in fact one of the best if not the best I have ever seen, would make me want to recruit a friend anyway if mine were not already playing.

Think you need to read the full terms and conditions before you make such judgement.

I have a problem with this article, It does not clearly point out the limitations, just shows the benefits, leading to people (who do not go to read the full terms and conditions) thinking that this is unjust.

excluding the free time and the mount everything is limited to level 59 or lower.

This is a very nice offer but what if my friend and I can not play together

  • Wed, Aug 6 2008 2:49 PM ()

i don't care about the xp and stuff, the level giving, and the summoning so much, the most important thing to me is the mount ^^

You still get the mount, and

btw I love how you never hear about this kinda stuff until 30mins after it goes live :)

I think this is a really good way of getting people to recruit either friends and/or family. It really makes me start to think about who I know who I might get interested in playing WoW for at least two months (hehe). Furthermore, I agree with some of the other people here that levelling at this moment in time is not at all the fun it used to be, especially when you're below 40. I had the good fortune to come across a nice, friendly guild that was looking for social players and who don't "look down" upon helping each other out when needed.

For me this means the search is on... (*wink*).

  • Wed, Aug 6 2008 2:49 PM ()

ok here are some of thos rules :P
Are there any limitations to granting levels to characters played by the veteran player?

Yes. The recruit may not grant a level to a character that is equal to or higher than the current level of the character he or she is playing.
Additionally, the recruit may not grant a level to a character that is level 60 or higher.

How long will I be linked to my recruit?

The link between the accounts will last for 90 days from the date that your recruit creates an account.

so after the 90 days its all gone anyways.

I'd say your 'reward' is not having to level with the enormous wave of noobs this is bound to generate.

No it isn't there is a lvl 59 max restriction so you CAN'T "level your 70 to 80 without doing a thing".

Plus the website says "For every two levels the new player earns, the new player can grant one free level-up to a lower-level character played by the veteran player."

ie: you grant a free level-up to a LOWER LEVEL character ie: the character who gets the level up MUST be lower level than the new player. So your mate gets from lvl 20 to 22. He can grant a level to your character who is less than lvl 22.

This is actually a significant restriction and won't severely unbalance levelling. Also the fact that it doesn't apply to lvl 60+ characters is also a significant restriction. All in all its just another way of levelling up to 60 faster. Quite clever marketing though.

BTW does anyone notice that the mount doesn't seem to be an epic mount!!

Edit : sorry it is an epic mount - see http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=48954

me and two of my friends, did this today. There's what seems like a bug. So there are 3 people invloved:

Friend A gives me an email inv, i take it, and create a trial account. His account page said I need to upgrade to WoW before we get these cool benefits. Except the funny thing is, he also recruited friend B, and when B upgraded, I was also granted the triple bonus. I didn't pay for anything at all, but because I was linked to Friend A, friendB's investment helped every trial linked to A.
So the 3 of us leveled together to 20 in 3hours23min /played, and we're going to start SM tommorow when I upgrade this acc.

    Sarkoth's Q gives 1500 xp. :)

PS. I highly reccomend this if you are tight with a few buddies and want to reroll. It's been the most fun I've had since the release of BC, very exciting and engaging seeing everything fly by with your friends the same level.
we did runs with a 70, running us 3 lowbies, and got these results:
RFC run: about 15000xp per(leveled from 8 to 12 in two runs, pulled everything)
VC run: about 18 or 19k xp per, because most mobs are nonelites.
but srsly, its like ding ding ding ding ding. we all got a new lvl 20 in 3hours played. thats usually how long it takes me to get to like 10.
