World of Warcraft

WoW is still growing

Tom Chilton (Lead Game Designer) told videogaming247 in an interview which was published recently that World of Warcraft is still going strong.

Event hough there hasn’t been any press releases since the last 10,000,000 players one, the population of Azeroth and Outlands is still steadily increasing – which is in my opinion quite crazy!

Tom told VG274:

The recent success of titles such as Eidos’ Age of Conan and Codemasters’ Lord of the Rings Online had lead some to speculate that long-term market leader World of Warcraft is on the wane – not so, according to its developer.

I'll hardly call Age of Conan a "success title".

refer a friend has many people starting a second account, of course it's growing, but how many are truly new to the game. In a guild of 75 we have about 10 new refer a friend accounts.

    Two words: Multi. Boxing.

Blizzard have nicely tapped a rapidly-growing niche demographic - people with too much money and too little life. Someone wants to pay for 5 accounts? Yes sir, I can boogie! Not only I can boogie, I can even throw you some bonuses in the form of increased experience, summon a "friend" stuff... hey, have an exclusive mount as well!
