World of Warcraft

Whorecraft Starlet Suspended from WoW

Kotaku is reporting about a Whorecraft star being suspended due to someone else's actions in-game. Now, I'm not entirely interested in the whole real life porn meets video games idea, but to suspend someone over something that wasn't even their fault is ludicrous.

Kotaku wrote:

Mia Rose, hardcore gamer and pornstar, who appeared in several episodes of World of Whorecraft, told Kotaku that she was banned from the World of Warcraft over the weekend after a fan recognized her and mentioned her webiste in a public chat channel.

This leads me to something interesting that happened while we were at BlizzCon interviewing some of the costume contest entrants. It turns out that two of the "night elf druids" were actually women from World of Whorecraft. This of course led to some obvious video edits, since they advertised their new website in the interview as well - which we can't really show on Curse - but it was a good interview none the less.

We interviewed quite a few of the entrants and even some exhibitors who play WoW, so we'll try to get those interviews done soon.

var FO_120 = { movie:"http://dev.curse-gaming.com/static/flash/flvplayer.swf", width:"625", height:"360", majorversion:"7", build:"0", bgcolor:"#FFFFFF", allowfullscreen:"true", flashvars:"file=http://videos.cursebeta.com/stream2/premium/580.flv&autostart=true" }; $("#flvplayer_120").click(function(event) { UFO.create(FO_120, "flvplayer_120"); $(this).unbind('click'); });

Nimloth took time today to write a recap in his blog about the interview as well.

Just to note, I don't believe the person suspended was at BlizzCon; the two females there commented that their characters were fairly low level.

Now on to my question; why did World of Warcraft become so accessible to porn? You've had modifications to client files in games in the past, but how many games can truly be credited with having live-action pornography created, centered around the game? I surmise that it's simply the sheer number of people playing the game; you're bound to find someone from every walk of life playing.

That said, I really hope Miarose gets her account status fixed, because it's incredibly silly to suspend someone like she was.

    lol

Why ban her account for someone else's advertisement in public chat?

Yeah I dunno, apparently they thought she was the one advertising it.

Interesting... it must've been a misunderstanding - nothing would really justify her being suspended / banned in that situation. (As far as I know, the EULA doesn't prohibit pornstars from playing)

More so than being banned, I sympathize for her being recognized over the game... being in a position (sorry) with so many undersexed, socially uninhibited teenage males.

Or maybe I'm slightly misunderstanding the situation on that latter part.

Being from Mal'Ganis myself I can tell you with confidence that her being in this game has little to do with the enjoyment of the content and more about her being the biggest attention-whore on our server, save for maybe VXIXhunter, or Gurgthock.

I seriously doubt that she was advertising her site, as she does acknowledge her profression, but would rather people accept her as a player--which will never happen.

More Miarose drama arose ( lolpun) when she was invited to the #2 US Horde guild, which happens to be on Mal'Ganis as well--<Aurora> Most speculate she is "whore'in it for teh purps" but I dont really care.

Its sad when this is all common knowledge to anyone that spends more than 2 minutes in Shattrah in /2.

I am a member of Aurora (Mia's guild) on Mal'Ganis. Its no secret what her RL profession is, all of the big Trade chat talkers on the server have her friended and as soon as she enters a city, General and Trade are filled with Mia Rose discussion. She responds honestly to inquiries made about her job and is generally a good sport about. Obviously she does enjoy the attention, but lets be honest, just about everyone likes to get at least some attention.

She is an extremely nice person and it is unfortunate that she got banned over something so juvenile. Mia played the game purely out of enjoyment and her toon was lvl 70 unlike the two women in the news post. She probably will get her character back since the actions resulting her banning were obviously not her fault.

Oh and to set the record straight, she isn't a whore for the purplz. Aurora has never given her a single item, she is purely a social member. That and we aren't the #2 US Horde guild. Go one higher.

  • Mon, Aug 13 2007 11:36 PM ()

To Durtag: Is the fact that she doesnt get gear in <Aurora> because you dont want to seem like you legitimize her and have her there as "whore'in it for teh purps" or is it to let her save face as a casual who enjoys the game, or is it to cover <Aurora>'s ass? I see this fact being brought up alot "She's just here as a casual in the most non-casual, hardcore raiding guild in the US, #8 world. She doesnt get loot because she's casual" I mean you guys obviously get alot of press and attention as is. Or is this just more of a ploy for marketing? (#1 US Horde Guild, my apology)

Much to my dismay this game IS for children; see profanity filter. Blizzard had a liability on their hands--a variable they couldnt control. They have a self-admitted porn star who's shear existance in the game ( see MMO anonymity) seeks to disrupt the harmony of said game. They cant ban her normally ( since technically she isnt physically causing the disruption) so they had to ban her after the fact.

While I do feel for the more than necessary amount of harassment she gets, its basically her own fault. Grats to her for answering the hard-hitting ( literally) questions the minions of Mal'Ganis decide to throw at her about her job. I'm glad that women make $1700 per anal while guys only make $600. My life is a fuller and richer place for knowing that. Amirite? The fact is that doesnt make her a martyr, it makes her look more like an attention whore. Yes attention is nice; its the reason we seek to accel at the things we do, but seriously there's a limit and she just doesnt know it.

What happens to spamming attention whores? They get banned--Alot of us have been on Mal'Ganis long enough to remember the rantings of Wolfen in the LFG channel, and look what happened to him? Are we crying about that? No. She gets and wants special treatment.

tl;dr--Mia should have stayed an anon and avoided a full iggy list and 3-day and/or perma-ban. I'm a flying monkey-space pirate who likes anal. Can you prove it? ...oh you can...well..crap.

This game is for teenagers upwards, and I'll think you'll find most WoW players are 18+

  • Mon, Aug 13 2007 11:36 PM ()

    @Flawless

    Omg sry you failed dude

This is the most retard thing some1 should have said in this topic.

    WoW players are most 10-16.

    Think before writing something plz.

  • Mon, Aug 13 2007 11:36 PM ()

If you want me to take you seriously, learn to spell.

10-16 year olds? Get a clue.

and I got my information from an unofficial realm forum poll. where the majority of players are 18-21.

The game is rated T for teen. That said, there should be a warning that says "Game experience may change." just as any other MMOG out there. They rate the actual content of the game - the experience each player has with other people can and probably will change from person to person.

  • Mon, Aug 13 2007 11:36 PM ()

I was talking as a whole if you where to take a large selection of people from your realm that are casual raiders pvpers etc. and asked them their age you would find they would be around the 18+ mark, and not 10-16.

  • Mon, Aug 13 2007 11:36 PM ()

Her penetration stat is significantly lower than I expected it to be.

Actually the average age of wow players is around 25 or so. http://www.nickyee.com/daedalus/archives/001365.php

Many of us have played MMORPG since Everquest and some even longer but we do have children and they play too. Personally I think blizz over reacted but it is their game. She will most likely do as many suspended players have, if she loves the game, level another account.

As incredibly silly as any of you think it is for her suspension, I think it justified. I was in trade chat when SHE herself linked her own website in response to a few people saying she had an ugly face and a horribly ugly nose. She got offended and her feelings got hurt because there were ppl who didn't want to lick her feet and hump her leg with attention, so she felt it necessary to link her site as "proof that she got a nose job". Grats to her for being a complete idiot in being so very sleazy with her profession and stating what it was and even naming herself after herself to get attention even more! She deserves what she gets and she shouldn't get preferential treatment just because she does what she does. I save baby seals and seaguls when they get trapped in oil spills, but doing that doesn't make me more righteous nor does it make me more of a candidate for a less harsh sentence should I break any rules Blizzard set up to keep the game clean and fun. I've said my piece, I won't be back here to check comments, yes I play Horde, yes I have a 70, no I won't tell you the name. Say what you will, but she got all the attention Mal'Ganis has to offer, quite a few have had their fill of her moronic blather (as you'll most likely call my rant, but say as you must) it's time she moved on..... to Alliance hopefully.

  • Mon, Aug 13 2007 11:36 PM ()

.... Tob... All I can say to you, is... 1.) your seemingly endless rant is not justified with out a screen shot...

I know that Link Removed by FuF WAS NOT TYPED by me at all. Period. It actually was posted nurmious times, by an account with the name of something like "bubblious?" I said to check out my myspace.

I am never rude to anyone, I am never mean to anyone, nor disrespectful. I am usally the first to help when someone needs it, with out asking questions. And the response to me using MY name for my toon, is hate.... whore this, *** that, attention whore.... on and on... I don't ever say "look at I'm a pornstar...look!" anything I say in live chat, is soon followed by "look at that *** bla bla bla, omfg your such an attention whore" .

.... :: sigh :: YOU ARE GIVING ME THIS ATTENTION. btw. WoW players, not myself, made a huge deal about my toons name.

If you are so against me, then please, /ignore. I have taken full advantage of that feature, its great. If you don't want to ignore it, and continue to post cowardly put downs directed at me.... Fine. But know that you are in fact a coward for remaining nameless / faceless.... And I would add the word, fool the that statement. ((( Just incase you don't know )))

    fool (noun)

    1. One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding. 2. One who acts unwisely on a given occasion:

Think what you will.... But, if you have anymore negitive responses, try to be an adult and keep them to yourself.

http://www.xfanz.com/news/83081 The rest of the story, although some quotes are off "like usual"

    So what? Its obvious I

    • Quote* I find this post amusing but I'm having a hard empathizing with a celebrity (be it a porn celebrity) who uses her full name as her character name in WoW and then gets "unwanted" attention.

She also obliquely advertised her myspace page. *End Quote*

Found this on Kotaku, you MIGHT wanna go flame on this guy a little too... since you didn't post your website (according to you), and a myspace IS your own personal site. Thought everyone knew that, or did you forget that detail to make your "argument" more feasable? Kinda sorry I came back to here just out of morbid curiosity, wouldn't have been lured into this pitiful little spat.
