Leveling Reduction Pre-WotLK & Major Priest Rumor

Drysc responded to the thread we talked about a few days ago, regarding the 1-58 game and how they're looking into reducing the time it takes to level up.

The question revolved around when we can expect this to be put live, and Drysc happily answered.

Drysc wrote:

Current plans are for a pre-expansion change to the experience curve and gain.

As you can see, the current plans are to implement the new leveling curse before Wrath of the Lich King ships. He then goes on to respond to some comments regarding the changes, so if you'd like to get involved in the discussion, then I highly suggest you check it out.

In other news, there's a rumor going around that Pain Suppression is getting a massive buff, but the information provided is incredibly sketchy. Never the less, the rumor is that Pain Suppression is going to have its cooldown reduced to 1 minute and can be cast on friendly players within 20 yards, similar to Blessing of Protection.

Well Blizzard did say that they would buff Disc a little. Here's a blue-post about it: http://blue.cardplace.com/newcache/forums.worldofwarcraft.com/97833393.htm

    Seems a nice buff indeed.

Can't someone look all the class because there should be plenty of change like that.

Would be nice for Curse to check the talent trees out at the con. Do note though, these are Pre-PTR changes. They can still changed/removed/buffed/nerfed/etc..

What would be the point of shield wall if priests can do the same with shorter cooldown for the warrior?

  • Fri, Aug 24 2007 10:51 PM ()

    Shield Wall isn't a spec'd talent.

Doesn't matter that shield wall isn't a specced talent.

There would be no point for shield wall at all with the rumored change, especially as the cooldown is pretty hefty and shares cooldown with other solid skills.

And I really dubt the rumours of it both being castable on others as well as getting shorter cooldown. Spammable in raids? Would require a whole series of rebalancing raid-encounters with the side effect that the damage output from bosses would be impossible to withstand if you did not have a disc priest in the raid spamming it. Somehow I doubt this is desired.

Not to mention the effect it would have on PvP where warriors can't use shieldwall because of the hefty cooldown, but Pain Suppression is usable.

Yeah the more I think about this the less I believe it. I was talking with Slifli(who plays a priest on EU and US realms) about it on the way to the office yesterday, and we pretty much agreed that at 1 minute cooldown it would be fairly absurd, especially if it could be cast on other players.

There would have to be some extreme caveat to it so that it wouldn't work that well in PvE.
