StreamMyGame Service Launches

This morning we received an interesting press release about a new service which was launched, called StreamMyGame. Now, when you initially think about it, this sounds vaguely similar to Valve's Steam service. Once you read up on it, though, the services are vastly different.

StreamMyGame promises to change the way people play their games, with new game streaming technology that - once the service is fully fleshed out in Q1 of 2008 - will literally let you play games on your home PC from anywhere. At launch the service will allow several features, including video recording of games that can be shared with other gamers, share their games with other members via broadband, and most importantly, play a game installed on another PC through a local network. This means that you'll be able to hook up your laptop in the living room and play World of Warcraft on your bedroom PC - from your laptop - thanks to StreamMyGame's service.

You can check out their list of currently supported games which includes popular titles like World of Warcraft, Battlefield 2, Bioshock, CounterStrike Source, Quake 4 and others, find out how it works, or just hit the website to read general information on it. There's also a FAQ available, and if you're interested in the service, be sure to check back - they're planning a Linux version later this year which will allow PC games to be played on the PS3, mobile phones and many other devices.

No thanks... I'd rather have it stay the way it is now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but people have been able to do this for some time for FREE.

Is it just me thinking that video game providers aren't going to be happy with this?

Thats nice! but if you want to play the game remotely and not just stream it try the hootgaming client server (hootgaming.com). It works for other games as well and there is a windows and linux (wine) client.
