New AFK Rules in PvP

Blizzard has completely changed their stance on people being AFK in the battlegrounds and instituted a much stiffer penalty for people who are non-participants in the BGs and trying to leach honor.

Initally the report AFK system only ensured that they would receive no honor for the BG if enough people reported them unless they engaged an enemy in combat. Now the penalties range from removal of honor points to losing recently acquired PvP gear and even account suspension is there are enough infractions of this sort.

There are many threads on the Official World of Warcraft Forums about this and many blue responses. This has been a major problem in WoW Battlegrounds for quite some time and hopefully this new system will finally end this cheating practice once and for all.

    Hey.. do you think its fair for those of us who actually PLAY in the Battlegrounds to get owned by people who just stand there doing nothing? As frustrating as that rule can be I think its perfectly fair.. they don't deserve it if they didn't work for it

    Wow. The curse client popped up with this newsitem while I was in the battlegrounds, and it made me so happy I didn't really care we were losing. Finally! :)

    Next step would be a "Report annoyance" feature where you can report the players creating macros of 30 /poke in a row etc ;) And ofc. the "Report spam" feature blocking the bastards IP address or smth for a period of time.

    Yeah how dare they take away gear people had no right to earn in the first place!

    Stop being a lazy ass and play the damn BG.

    Sympathising with people who AFK in a battleground really does nothing but imply you do the same and are worried about having to actually work for your epics like most of the people in this game.

    Sheesh some people really just aren't cut out for what an MMORPG actually is. Go play a single player game if you want "give me everything" shortcuts (aka cheats). Yes thats right, see what I did there, I accused you of trying cheating the system.

    it's not bullshit losing gear. its gear they got from going afk in BGs so i think bliz making moves in the right direction. it sucks having 15 people afk in AV.

    Why don't they just change the way honor is gained?

    Base Bonus Honor off a percentage of Damage/Healing and Flag Captures, and stop giving group honor unless you do damage to the enemy?

    I don't know, maybe this is the way to go where Blizzard plays Policeman.

    Yes no afkers now but if someone report you for your bad gear or because they had an argument with you, You will lose gear and pvp points too.

    I'm glad Blizz is showing them the guns. This is one step closer to the win over the ones who don't actually want to play the game. (until they have all the stuff they want).

    It's about the journey... not just your level 70 stack up or your lvl 19 twink.

    I'm sure it will take more than 1 or 2 reports... And as far as I've seen... Blizz has a way to be fair...
    One rule... don't look like the guy stealing the cookies...
