WoW celebrates another birthday

Recently, World of Warcraft celebrated it 4th (3rd if you discount the beta) year of life and now we have another birthday to celebrate. Yesterday, It was a year since The Burning Crusade was released to the masses. TBC is finally 1 year old.

Released on Januray 16th 2007, selling 2.4 million copies in 24 hours and well and truly taking the gaming world by storm, The Burning Crusade looked set to be a hit, breaking numerous records from release.

World of Warcraft has reached the epic milestone of 9 million subscribers worldwide, and players have discovered the might of the Burning Legion, fought against the allies of Illidan in Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep, and even faced down the Betrayer himself in the Black Temple.

Happy Birthday World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade!

This does however mean that Blizzards aim of a one year cycle between expansions hasn't come to be as we are still awaiting the arrival of the second expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. Hurry up Jeff!!

Free 10 day trial of BC? Great..... Shattrath was the only place I could go capital city-wise to avoid gold seller bots.... I guess our Shangrila is about to become the next Stormwind... expect to see them soon. *sigh*

The only way you can get a TBC trial is if you have a paid for account so have no fear there wont be any gold sellers appearing in Shattra

They never said that it would be one year between expansions, just that there would one every year. Can't complan hough, I still have bosses in BT to kill, and Season 3 gear to collect.

18 months between releases is OK by me! Like numerous people have said, I still have BT bosses to kill!! Though I'm as big a fan of expansions as the next guy, if Wrath came out tomorrow, I'd feel severely shortsheeted since there's still so much content for my level of progression to explore. Blizzard, take your time on Wrath. Do it right and give us more precious time to kill Illidan ;)

Now if I can only get the Dell Horde laptop
I can keep up with your advances LOL

I want to play WotLK as much as the next guy, but I think 18-24 months between expansions gives people the time they need to do what they want with the current expansion.

You'd be surprised at how many have killed Illidan. On my server, a server that didn't down C'Thun or clear Naxx, we will have 2 guilds with Illidan on farm and 2 more on their way as of this posting. I think the next few months would be right for a WotLK release but it is mroe likely to be August time I guess.

4 years? Try 3 years. You don't count Beta in the life a a product.
