World of Warcraft

PTR and PvP : New Arena Tournament Realms

Blizzard introduced in the last PTR build, among with the addition of new PvE bosses voices files (including Kil'Jaeden death, emerge, Anveena Event etc.. can find them here if you're interested) a new way to PvP in World of Warcraft called "the 2008 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament".

What is this "2008 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament" you may ask, go check it out here to see what it is about. Basicly, it's like a premade realm, you can pick your lvl 70 class, picking your stuff in a premade list of items that you can find here, then create your own pvp team to compete in arena games versus other PvP players. This way, you won't have to PvE your way to 70 to be able to do serious PvP. I'm using the term "serious PvP" cause the top teams from each qualifier will battle in regional live events, culminating in the global finals, which will feature a total prize pool of $120,000 -- $75,000 of which will go to the grand-prize-winning team!

That's a really interesting news for WoW PvP players ! Remember to check those links i provided above so you won't miss a bit of infos !

Sounds like a ripoff of the Guild Wars PVP system.

I wonder if this means that blizzard will stop messing PvE by making PvP focused class changes on the live realms and only make those changes here.

About bloody time they realized that competitive PvP =/= building up characters or being gimped solely because you entered the game later.

Finally skill will maybe start to have more effect than gear and real competitive PvP can ensue.
