I agree with Buldrock_Honored_Warrior_Orc, this is a great opportunity for new players to actually be able to enjoy the game and explore Azeroth without having to spend hours to get from point A to B.

Why dont you guys get out of your thrones and be happy. My highest is level 66 and the only reason i have my epic land is because i borrowed 400g. Ive been working on paying it back for awhile. Go make and alt and back off. Be happy for it, i know i haven't had to get thousands of gold but now when you make a new toon you can pay less gold for it. Stop your complaining their making the game easier for level 80's to get more toons that high, leveling shoulders, faster mounts etc. They gave you guys the leveling shoulders, they gave us a easier way to get mounts. Stuff like that yet you still find the need to complain. Its just a game.

LOL i fell kinda ripped of on my main BUT this is really good for my low lvl character :P i do agree with the others though those who paid for all these things should get some new cool mounts only avaible to them! and i think its stupid that they didn't put down the cost on epic flying. but i kinda makes sense because of the speed increase on normal flying :D

I do think Kody is right, as is the blue poster (the things you see when you click 'source' are not always the same as posted here ^^) when he says that doing 1-60 took quite some time, mostly because of the slower movement speed and higher xp requirements. These days, WoW has to compete a lot more, and making things a bit easier is no shame when it comes to that. 5000g is still something you have to work for, especially when you want to have it at lvl 70. Besides, decreasing travel time is not the same as handing the game on a platter to new players . I can rush 1-80 with the new BoA items (which I think are very nice) and reach the lvlcap fast, but then you have seen nothing. The game is not about reaching 80 as soon as you can (they made powerlevelers for that) or about traveling between places (thank god), but it's about having a good time. How you achieve that is up to you, but I rather spend my time in a usefull way than having to wait 20 minutes to cross outlands for just 1 daily quest...

I think Buldrock_Honored_Warrior_Orc is a prime example of why Blizzard is still paying attention to the beginner experience. He's new to the game (welcome, I hope you enjoy it so far!), and Blizzard knows that max-level players aren't the only ones leveling through that content.

They need to keep the beginner experience competitive with new games. While it was awesome 4 years ago, a few games have since released with superior experiences, so this is their way of bringing WoW's up to snuff.

Age of Conan, for example, is a fantastic game for the first 20 levels. Warhammer Online can be quite awesome depending on the faction you choose (Greenskins are superb). You also have Aion releasing in US/EU soon, and its beginner experience is extremely well done as well.

So while it is a bit of a bummer that veterans of the game had to spend so much effort attaining their mounts (I remember being one of the first on Kilrogg to have a mount -- it was an awesome feeling), we have to remember in the end that it's important to evolve the game along with the genre, both at max-level and the levels leading up to it.

Still 5000g for Artisan riding .. what a joke! Wow wants us to buy gold? The cost should be a cool 1000g and no more.. fools!

p.s. any chance of getting cold weather flying a bit earlier? lol

this sounds great, yes it seems a bit unfair that we have had to work a bit harder to get our mounts than some new people will have to, but personally, i'm looking to have 1 of every class, so the news that i can now get a mount at level 20 is great.

We should be happy for the people that have the things we wished we had when we were starting, this game is too awesome for bitterness, don't you think?

Everyone needs to stop whining about how they're "dumbing down" the game. You all know you hated running around on foot with maybe a slight speed increase from Aspect of the Cheetah or travel/wolf form for 40 levels. That they're making this an easier thing now is fantastic. So you spent gold on it - it's fake money and no one forced you to spend it anyway.

That's a wonderful new for low level player !!

Im 17 level Orc and im very happy to get a mount at 20 one.

A lot of players did not get this opportunity ,

    tomorrow is another day

I like the idea of the increased mount speed. But, come on now. You are now just basically handing all these new people their mounts on a silver platter, or should I say "gold" platter. How about giving something to the people that have actually worked extremely long and hard to obtain theirs. I never post, I guess there is always a first time.

I don't play wow anymore, but WoW is probably the 'modern mmo' with the highest travel time.

Waiting for boat/zeppelin/turtle/telecabin, flying on flight path.

Typical travel time can be from 5-10 minutes to get from point A to B, can reach 15 minutes on some spot.

Heart, walk, port, walk, boat, walk, fly, walk...

The increasez speed of the small flying mount and the easier to obtain ground mount should be more than welcomed by the community.

So basically now it's "I get everything I want without working for it". I like the idea of the speed increase for the slow flyer and I don't even mine that the level requirements have gone down for land mounts, but making them that cheap? Come on...You've made it complete BS for anyone who has been playing this game for more than six months and actually had to work for their stuff.

i dont know about the gold thing yall are talkin about, but its about dang time they increased the regular flying mount speed from 60% to 150%.  personally i found it extremely anoying and almost not worth it to pay a max of 650gold just for a mount that flys at a speed of 60%.  on a different note, i now think it would be more worth it to spend all that time grinding rep with netherwings so that i could grab one or two of those flying nether drakes what with the faction discount and all.

  • Thu, Jun 11 2009 6:25 AM ()

ya - lets just make the game easier for the children who want everything handed to them. im actually get pissed off and blizzard making this game so damn easy that i can go take a dump and even being afk, clear ulduar, and simotaniously farm honor in BGs naked. And now my alts get to take the eZ path? screw this - GW2 here i come ROFL

and the money - OMFG : getting gold used to be harder then crap - i didn't even get artisan flying till i had been 70 for almost 3 months, cuz gold was hard to get from only 5 dailies a day. NOW - ya i can get TONS!! of gold easy, but now the cost goes down....backwards much?

How about a free special mount to those who have already paid thousands of gold and farming hours for their mounts?

  • Thu, Jun 11 2009 3:47 AM ()

    More dumbing down...

  • Thu, Jun 11 2009 3:38 AM ()

an incentive to lvl my alts in outlands

  • Thu, Jun 11 2009 1:42 AM ()

    two words... HOLY &^*&^

  • Thu, Jun 11 2009 1:36 AM ()
