Instance Lock Extensions

While this was announced in yesterday's PTR patch notes, Eyonix posted a bit more information on the new Instance Lock Extension feature coming in patch 3.2.

Check it out below, and feel free to share your thoughts on this new feature!

In the next patch a new feature will be become available that will give players the option to extend the instance lock, or instance ID of a raid or heroic dungeon. It will be possible to extend an instance lock more than once and each extension will grant an additional amount of time equal to the duration of the original instance lock. In other words, you'd gain 24-hours if you chose to extend the instance lock of a heroic dungeon, whereas you'd gain 7-days by extending the lock on Ulduar. Additionally, extending an instance lock is a choice that's solely up to each individual, and is not controlled by the group's party or raid leader. This new option is being added as a means to allow parties and raids to progress through an instance at their chosen pace, and should prove to be a useful option available when the patch is released.

I'm glad that this is optional on a per person basis, because I personally would still rather have an instance reset, clear through the first 5 bosses on farm for easy loots and badges, then spend half a night working on a progression fight -- rather than extend a lock for a whole week (!) and only maybe get 1 or 2 bosses down total.

This is best news I have heard from WoW, since majority of people have requested this, since many of us have day jobs and it is hard to raid every day just because of a time limit. This extension will allow less hardcore guilds to actually enjoy raiding and the raid instances and not worry about the time factor. Also allow us to be more patient in learning the instance mechanics and less stressful, when things do not go right.

I agree with Ygborgo's <a href="www.curse.com/.../a>. It will really be helpful.

Not bad an idea, but they should make it easier for people to know when their gear is good enough to raid with, that would be helpfull for me atleast
