Additional 3.2 Wintergrasp Changes

In a show of why the PTR truly exists, Blizzard has announced more changes (a few new, some modified from the last announcement) to Lake Wintergrasp in patch 3.2. Make sure to hop on the PTR and give the new Lake Wintergrasp a try if you're able, and then post your feedback on the official PTR forums. For European players, you can find the EU PTR forum here.

In response to some of the feedback we have received about Wintergrasp, I have some brief updates that should be in the next PTR build.

  • We are changing the max players per side to be 120 to match up with 3 x 40 raid groups. This should be reflected in the next PTR update.
  • The Wintergrasp timer should now be visible in the map view from all continents, not just while in Northrend.
  • The time until the next battle is also now shown in the battleground tab of the PVP window.
  • The initial players for a battle are chosen randomly, it doesn’t matter when or where you queue from.
  • Higher level players in the queue have priority to be chosen.
  • Queued players standing in Wintergrasp when the battle starts will only be ported out if they were not chosen to be an initial player.

We greatly appreciate the feedback and bugs that have been received so far from the PTR, and look forward to hearing more throughout this testing phase.

finally i love pvp but i hate to see lvl 40s in what should be high 70s area. you judt dont do any good when you get one shotted. is there anyway that a gear lvl could be added that way we would not only have 80s but good 80s in first. finally i see many 120v120 on my server coming up and i cant wait.

What stimie? From what i understand is it doesnt matter if you are in a raid, it just pulls in people from the queue, regardless of position, with a priority of higher levels first.

mrich23: Why do you assume a 57 is botting just because their in WG?

I've been doing WG since level 42. Not that I got many raid invites then, lol.

Actually, it's the only battleground I've done, I ought to try out the others.

so itll port ya out once it starts if your not in a raid still?

It's not instanced, but it may as well be. Anyone who is not accepted in the queue when the match starts will be ported to their hearth point.

Kody, Oh? I thought they said it was going to be instanced a while back in another set of WG patch notes. Oh well.

TopTop18, You are lucky. On Muradin, Alliance will have 4 raids at peek times, while horde will have 1 raid, possibly 1 and a half. What does this mean? Wtfbbq70K HP healing for 40k Flash of Lights and doing 4k Concencration ticks. Tenacity is really fun.

Mrich23, Well who says they are botters? They could be low levels trying to farm a bit.

BTW I quit WoW about a month ago, everything i say is from the patch notes i read. Life is boring without WoW. :S

another problem that has been going on is the mining/hacking by gold farmers, seeing a lv 57 running around botting is getting out of hand

Don't think it'll change much on my server, we never reach 3 raids ever xD max of 2.5

The only thing it'll change here is that you'll have to que->less players

oopomopoo: Sadly it's still not instanced. However, I trust Blizzard's choice of a cap on the number of players in that they've researched just how much the servers can withstand. I suppose we'll see how it plays out once this goes live.

I enjoy it, honestly it makes things better due to the fact that now WG is an instanced pvp area, so no more world crashes or lag in / out of wintergrasp.

you have to que for WG now? I know a few friends who wont be too happy about that
