The pre-launch event we reported on yesterday appears to be entering phase 2. The Conspicuous Crates can now be found in all major cities. Additionally, Plagued Roaches are a new way to become infected! Found in all major cities, killing these roaches will infect you with the plague as well.
Also, there's an absolutely awesome thread on the official forums about some Zombie Misinformation that gets clarified by a player who has been participating in the event. Check it out; it's worth the read.
We're currently in the process of working on something to make finding Conspicuous Crates much easier, so keep checking back!

Benefits of Registration
Lets look it at another way about "participation" in this event. Think of it as a pseudo model of real world events. (Black Death and The Influenza Pandemic of 1918)These came out up and devasted whole populations and crossed borders. They happened without "participation". We can be thankful that there are Argent Dawn healers nearby.

I honestly don't consider this a PVP event. Yes, players are in control -- but this event is more meaningful than Blizzard just saying "Hey, here's a zombie, go grief people." This is very much so going to tell the story of why the Alliance and Horde actually care about moving on Northrend. While it can be frustrating in some situations, I urge everyone to participate, because this is something that will never happen again and as it builds up will no doubt be a fun and engaging experience.
You can't just "avoid" a zombie attack. It's far too easy to avoid/be purified of this plague anyway. I think it's too HARD to get any zombie infestations going, because there are Argent Healers around every corner.
I'm with Drazzard, I'm on a PvE realm yet being forced into PvP play (opening night on QD, for example). Oh well, at least I'm getting round to doing all those little things around the house until the event is over. (Though I would have liked to have spent some time getting some of my alts levelled up pre-WotLK, some quests are nigh-on impossible and having to spend 5-15 mins rezzing or waiting for the zombies to move on/be killed is getting too much of a pain). I'm with Drazzard on this one - Blizzard, please, at least on the PvE realms, make this PvP activated so I can choose when I join in? (And yes, most of my characters are on the side of Argent Dawn so I WILL be chasing your zombie corpses out of Stormwind - "By the Light of Elune! - Eat Moonfire zombie wretches!")
Whilst I am enjoying the event, i know of a number of people who dont want to participate, but have no choice in the matter and as a result are having their gaming experience spoiled by a forced situation. Maybe it should have been made a NPC zombie attack, or a PvP activated event so that non-participants can avoid the event.
I wonder if they will buff the zombies... or maybe allow us to compose flesh golems from like 20+ NPC zombies :))) and, PS: BRAAAAIINZZZZZZ... :)
