Kul Tiras, Gilneas, Pandaria, the sunken part of Kalimdor... there are a lot of existing "lore" places that are actually unused, nothing say that the Emerald Dream will be the next expansion. Yes some of the place is already in the data files since a long time ago, but if I remember well it was even before WotLK, so that's not something reliable.

Also, there are a lot of places actually existing in-game that could be used as expension materials. Think Old Ironforge, Karazhan's Crypt, the Old god below Tirisfal, and so on...

Meh, people have to read lore before they make any speculations about it, standing as of now, the hierarchy of the greater evil powers are The Old Gods, The Titans, and Sargeras, Also on a greatly smaller level than those the Dragon aspects. Honestly its hard to say after this because Kil'jaeden created the Lich King from Ner'zuhl who was just an orc shaman, who lured Arthas to the Frostmourne and fused with Ner'zuhl when he put on his armor... and technicall Kil'jaeden isn't dead... so right now the most powerful enemeis we're looking at with the upcoming expansion are Kil'Jaeden, Arthas, Deathwing (The Earthwarder/Neltharion), and Malygos (Blue dragon aspect), and possibly not Malygos depending on whether blizzard allows him to go crazy evil or not O_o or maybe we just beat him with a stick until he gives up etc etc.... you know, ANYWAYS thats how it is basically any alteration from that was blizzards decision that strays away from lore.

i just got one qwuestion. i havent read the lore so whats maelstorm and undermine? AND im so happy to know thewre will be new expansions. but also pretty damn sorry about it. then youll only need a single grp to defeat illaden and arthas :P which will be stupid. and so many lvls still to go

Actually, Maelstrom set is next, followed by 'the planes' (includes Pandaria, Xoroth home of the Nethrezim {both level 1 zones}, Emerald Dream, and some other stuff), then the 'legion' expansion, which has among other things, Argus.

When or will there ever be access to hyjal? i thought even before theexpansion was spoken of that it would be arthas and to get there we would use hyjal or maybe a boat in theramore that never moves.
btw ive read books 1-3 of warcraft but what is undermine and maelstorm oor even emerald dream gonna be about? i couldnt think of the story line... did i miss a book or few?

Also i bet you wont kill arthas, its just too simple, its just kaelthas you dont wanna kill em. arthas could be used for a future second last boss raid as in maybe some great demon or dragon saved him so for "now" hes assisting them or something

As far as I can tell, there is a corruption within the Emerald Dream called the Emerald Nightmare. This is why dragon's have appeared outside of gates to the Emerald Dream in various zones, such as Duskwood.

Most likely, the ED will be the next expansion since you can visit the ED on a map viewer, as well as browse the model files in the WoW model viewer.

As for the Maelstrom, Queen Aszshara is alive and well. She controls the naga and they are pretty angered at what has happened with the islands above the MS. This leads to the possibility of player owned boats to traverse the seas, as well as open up new islands that have been previously undiscovered or inaccessible, such as the Goblin's homeland island of Kezen. On top of that, there are still more old gods and the Burning Legion, so there is plenty of room for several more expansions. Given by Blizzard's success, I'm sure we'll be seeing another one soon enough. I just hope they don't keep increasing the level cap in increments of ten...

As for the Emerald Dream, those files have been there since release or shortly after, along with the "old outlands" files. Though they could be a pointer, i would not give too much weight on such things, as they can always change.
