I was trying to get my Onyxia attunement for fun the other day on my level 70, and it took so long to get a group to UBRS I almost died of boredom... All the 50-60 level group means now is quests to get to Outland, there's no time for instancing.

You've hit a valid point.

Back in the old days...

Unfontunatly, I never experienced the thrill of strat, onxyia, and blackwind lair. And if you really want to see onxiya and blackwing lair, just log into a instant 70 server.

Back in the old days...

I agree. Maybe if they made certain items prerequisites to get other items in the new expansions people would still do the instances because they are a prerequisites. This could be a possibility.

I have been playing WoW for over four years and spent a lot of time ganking the other faction and exploring so I took a very long time to level. I just hit WoW burnout with my highest char being a 68, and decided to go play something else for a few days. And as I was thinking about jumping back in, it occurred to me that all my efforts from here on out would be for naught... I'm a completist, and so I don't want to get started raiding 70 instances if the world is going to abandon them for lvl 80 partway through. So I'm on vacation until wothk.

I do hope Blizz is going to do more dead instance recycling like they're doing with Naxxramas... go ahead and recycle all the good 60 instances which I never got to see, and re-tool one or two for mid-to-high 50's. Or even low 50's, because I really hate BFD and would like an alternative to the endless runs in that place.

Back in the old days...

indeed, and i know ppl are going to come and say "QQ more it's called progress"...TBC was not progress it was giving some homeless $100mill so he could go out and buy a Porsche and a new life. if anything Outlands should have been lvl 65-70 REQUIRED; forcing you to spend time in lvl 60 raids and instances to get gear to even stand a chance in the new lands. but no...they make it piss-easy to get great gear...just hit lvl 58 and go through the gate. hence the lack of lvl 50ish gear on the AH; why bother farming for it.

Back in the old days...

heroic / lvl 70 difficulty versons of those old instances would instantly fix this problem

Back in the old days...

TBC DESTROYED WoW will never be the same as it was.

Back in the old days...

or AoC

Back in the old days...

yeah, I really don't know what they were thinking, making the old instances and raids useless or impossible to find a group for now. I would love to do them even with a full group/raid of 70's, even if they were a cinch. I never got to see KT die, and it looks like I never will :( everyone should have a chance to fight Rag, Nef, C'thun, Ony, KT...

maybe they should revamp they key/attunement systems to require you to kill the last boss of all previous raids in order to do the new raids... like, you can't fight gruul unless you've killed Kel'Thuzad, and you can't run naxx until you've cleared AQ...

a ton of people would complain but I'd be happy =P

Back in the old days...

I have exactly the same opinion and I once made a comment about this same situation on some post announcing the wonderful upcoming expansion but was promptly flamed by both the author of the post and some other members.

Blizzard is indeed rendering its own previous content useless with these expansions and trying to suck more and more money out of their long time players. During this past year there was an almost total lack of free expansions that added new content from the game, mostly there were just a few class tweaks and that's it.

Not everyone has the urge or time to be a powergamer. I have a friend of mine that only know managed to level his char to 70 and he's been playing almost since the game released, like myself. He didn't even explore the new lvl 70 instances, let alone the old lvl 60s and now he's actually considering buying this new expansion, miss out on most of the lvl 70 content and being forced to level again to 80 in a vain attempt that he'll be able to actually explore endgame content (not that he will have time to raid anyway).

Therefore, Blizzard seems to be increasingly interested in hooking up people to the game for more and more consecutive hours and rendering new players an almost impossible chance to compete with veteran players as they try to level through what, in a few more expansions, can add up to 100+ levels. Sure they tweaked down the experience necessary to lvl to 60, but still leveling up is starting to turn into a big pain in the ass.

The only chance to revive those old instances, imho, would be to add a trigger similar to Heroic Dungeons that would boost both the loot and mobs of these old instances to lvl 80 standards while mantaining the lvl 61-70 instances the same, since they will still be useful for lvling up.

Still I don't see myself buying this new expansion, I get tired of the endgame content quickly because I just don't find it fun to mindlessly farm epics and raiding every single day of the week with a total disregard for personal or professional life. Therefore I casually play with a couple of chars and managed to bring two of them to 70 and I'm currently leveling up another one for the fun of it, I really don't seem myself lvling them all once more to 80.

More and more I feel the urge to release myself from these online games that, ultimately, have no real purpose except to parade around wearing slightly better epics than the guy next to you. At least single player games have a beggining and an end, you buy them, you play them, you end them, you store the cute package on your shelf and you get on with your life.

Back in the old days...

Everquest did a good job of keeping old content active when they put out their first two expansions. But after that I think they just tried to keep up with Wow by putting up expansions as fast as they could. Now if you play that game on the original continent it's completely deserted. There are literally hundreds of unplayed zones out there with inferior content. Wow has already started this process with BC. I was really disappointed when BC came out because it would have been better if they integrated the expansion content with the old content. Instead they are following the same school of logic as EQ. Out with the old and in with the new.

Back in the old days...

well i do believe Blizzard hired EQ devs...so...ya

Back in the old days...

I AGREE!! When TBC first came out I wanted to Run Scarlet Monastery and Deadmines again, only to discover that Heroic is only for the new instances. I was really disappointed. I would still love to visit all those old instances, with more powerful mobs. So much time was put in to design them, and although I have respect for the Dev's work schedule, It seems to me that all you would have to do is just take the same mobs and make them higher level. On the face of it it doesn't seem to be quite that difficult to do.
