How to fix lag problem if you use school internet

well, I've always gotten ppl (using university provided internet, if you live in dorms like me) saying they always lag when they play mmos (but internet was okay and it's really fast) Many unversity uses RESNET to run their network... At first I thought it's probably firewall and there is no way to fix it... unless contacting your school to open up ports. (they closed some ports to stop ppl using Bittorent probably) that affects many MMORPGs too cuz they uses multi-port also. So that's why I haven't played mmos for a long time... Can't even play a little bit due to the major lags I'm getting.

After much googling, I found out a way to prevent throttling by RESNET. Actually by "cutting down" your bandwidth prevents the server side software into thinking you are running some bad bit torrent software when it's actually just mmorpg...

heres a simple fix...

-right click network connections -then click properties => click configure => find the speed and duplex option => proceed to change the duplex drop down menu to 10 mbps Full Duplex.

It improved the lag A LOT but it still lags sometimes tho =( probably still have to contact the school to open up the ports...
