Automatically reports players for being AFK in the battlegrounds after they don't move for 2 minutes. Works by using the map, and doesn't depend on you being near a player to report them.

defending a base that is never attacked is something I am perfectly happy to report someone afk on.

    type /baudafk to disable sound

Would be handy for you to put this in the description of the addon

Me i'm using TuringTest AFK reporter, too bad Baud AFK reporter is just looking for afk gamers only by map position and do not consider scores. Will maybe try it if you add scores+position but only map position is too easy to bypass the protection, human or not.

I don't go by scores because people that defend bases don't get score for their efforts.

Thanx for great mod, saves me loads of time.
only way to make this actually better, is to add funktion, where if found AFK, would send a message to others on bg who uses Baud AFK Reporter. upon receving this certain message, the players are notified with popup "player /namehere has found AFK player, do you wanna scan for AFK players too" if yes, map is opened and closed. OR if automatically (i know you might have something against this) upon getting this message, would force other Baud AFK Reporter users to report player too.
It would not matter, if player is defending, because (s(he would be healing or taking damage too.
These messages could run in channel, so in order this funktion to work, youd need to join specific channel in world (maybe call it baud) so you need to subscribe to this funktion so to speak)

Suggestion: Is there any way to change the time until you report them? If this is added, put a slash command for it. Thanks, and great addon.

If you want, you can change this by modifying BaudAFKReporter.lua with Notepad. The number on the first line is the time until a player gets reported, in seconds.

    Great addon. Quick suggestion.

Add a slash command to announce the AFKers that Baud AFK Reporter has located to Battleground chat. This should increase the effectiveness of the addon.

  • Dec. 20, 2007, 01:30AM (6 months, 2 weeks ago)

I didn't add this to the addon because there are legitimate circumstances where players could remain still for over 2 minutes. If the addon starts accusing players of being AFK when they're really just guarding bases, they'd very likely take offense to it.

  • Dec. 20, 2007, 07:23PM (6 months, 2 weeks ago)

    Ah yeah good point.
Hmm... what if you gave the slash announce command stricter parameters. Like say "Hasn't moved for 4 mins" and "Has 0 damage/healing"?
Or perhaps limit it to "Hasn't moved from the starting cave for 2 mins".

Also, I thought if something else that might be neat to add. Some sort of Sync function. So like, if I join in the middle of a BG, someone else's Baud AFK Reporter can sync with mine and send it the list of AFKers to report.

  • Dec. 25, 2007, 12:05AM (6 months, 1 week ago)

I still don't think it would be a good idea. The synchronization thing wouldn't be necessary either, since 2 minutes after you enter the battleground, all the idle players would be reported anyways. Additionally, trusting information sent from other players could lead to the system being abused by other players so they could report whoever they want afk, since the information could be easily imitated.

I love your addon a lot and have posted on on my battlegroup forum so everyone can get it

    Baudzilla,

I chatted with 2 different GM's and they both confirmed using a bot or script to intentionally prevent your character from going AFK is an exploit. They do investigate these exploits.

Your mod is a step in the right direction! Thanks!

i was a little concerned about the automated reporting that it might be considered some form of botting, that i consulted a GM about it, it took me 3 tickets (the other 2 were just deleted with either a forum redirect or, we cannot endorse all addons [wich wasnt even the question]) before i finally had someone to whisper me.

He told me that it and i quote "shouldnt be a problem". Just wanted to let you know baudzilla. I have been using a couple of your mods for a long time now, the best one ever yet was baudbag :) god bless u for creating a replacement for allinonebag :)

So i would like to make a suggestion as to introduce 2 or 3 slash commands.

    - 1 (or 2) to enable/disable the mod ingame
    - 1 (or 2) to enable/disable the automated reporting
    - add slashcommand for manual reporting

and maybe change the sound to a simple "ding" sound. But thats just a very minor issue since the sound can be disabled.

i've just discovered baud mark, ill be definately using that one too.

From what I've read, anything addons can do is considered fair game. If Blizzard doesn't like something that the addon system can do, then they change the system. Blizzard only prohibits addons that do things which would be unacceptable even if you did them manually.

Great mod! I've seen some AV players use bot scripts to recall (AV trinket) over and over, then target the nearest friendly player, sometimes following them. Other bots are running out of the cave, stopping for 20 seconds, then running again for 20 seconds. I hope future versions can address these AFKers too.

    Slackers beware. You're reported!

I'm surprised how much interest there is with this addon. I added an option to disable the reporting sound with /baudafk. A client restart will be needed for the setting to save. I also made it so when multiple players are reported afk simultaneously, it will no longer play the reporting sound multiple times (which just made it sound louder).

Ive been pimping your mod in every AV. Everyone should have this. 5/5 stars

Pretty good mod, the only thing I would add is a toggle for the sound but other than that works real well. I've been looking for a AFK reporting tool and this seems to do the trick. No work, just plug and play. Everyone should at least give it a whirl, maybe we can get some more movement in the AV matches.

Yep nice autom-addon, simple yet working as intended :P

Auto reporting 10-15 afk players (cave leechers) at every single AV battle, without having to click on every single one of them for taking advantage of the others, ftw.

Although it seems that the debuff is too easy 'dispelled' seeing that some people get reported more times, but that is something that blizz has to look into to improve their system.

Agree with something like adding command line options to turn on/off the voice ? - I don't mind it, but sometimes it sounds way louder then any other sound in game and makes me jump when it comes up after some moments of silence.

All in all its a nice addition that every player should use too, or maybe blizz should implement such feature in their afk reporting system aswell.

    Anyway, thanks for this. :)
