SmartDebuff 2.3a - 2007-11-14
- Added "Unstable Affliction" to ignore list
- Updated TOC
Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Dandre saidThanks for the update Aeldra --
I love all the neat new features, including the ability to have it hide while out of combat. The color gradient looks really good, and the aggro is understated. I may have to think about using it as a possible mouseover heal set up as well :) Either way, the new features seem to work great! Thanks again!

Dreadicus saidAny news on an update, it (Smartbuff/SmartDebuff) works but has a few holes since 2.4.x. This beats Decursive hands down for ease of use and visual assists, and am glad it came around when decursive bombed at TBC release..
Keep this going, or someone with skills assist! (That ain't me but I can carry the banner and hollar for us!) :)

Dandre saidI would like to know if it's possible to have an option for smart debuff to have it visible only during combat. But if someone is not cleansed by something you can cure, for it to stay visible till it's removed. I like the idea of having a nice clean screen when not in battle :)

rbaby saidI really would like some help...everytime I log on, I can't select anybody on my grid...I can't target them (I'm set to target-mode).
I have to remove the addon, delete the saved variable--logout, LOG back ON without the addon...then log back out and put it all back in and it works.
Please, anybody...this is seriously driving me insane.

Waxie saidHaku - you should look into a mod called Clique
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=5108
I believe you can assign different clicks to certain unit frames i.e. shift click on a name plate is different then shift click on SmartDebuff.
But besides that it's a great mod for all classes. I use it on my warrior to shift click intervene on my target's target.

Haku saidGreat Mod very versatile. Would there be any way to configure the clicking in more depth? perhaps in a future release?
Like assigning different things to
right click
left click
shift right click
shift left click
alt right click
shift right click
instead of just 2 default toggle able configs.
or ways to configure the sounds to debuff 1 debuff 2
or a toggle to arrange horizontally left or right
or a way to minimize the window without closing it.

rbaby saidIs anybody having problems with this? I've tried all 3 versions, and I bug out. When I log in--I can't click on ANYTHING on the grid. I have to delete it...log in WITHOUT the mod installed, log out...reinstall and log in again and it works.
Help anyone?

residentjoker saidIf possible add the option to only show players with the class specific debuffs. So for like mages only show players that have a curse, then when the curse is removed have their little button disapper. Also is there a way to make it only show in parties and raids like KTM?

Eena saidIf possible, please add an option for the use of /stopcasting so that when it's enabled, the debuffing (remove lesser curse in my case) works immediately when clicked if I'm casting frostbolt for example. :)
