SimpleMD is a small addon used to broadcast information about your misdirection spell to other hunters with the addon.

Installation Guide
- Exit "World of Warcraft" completely
- Download the mod you want to install
- Make a folder on your desktop called "My Mods"
- Save the .zip/.rar files to this folder.
- If, when you try to download the file, it automatically "opens" it... you need to RIGHT click on the link and "save as..." or "Save Target As".
- Extract the file - commonly known as 'unzipping'
Do this ONE FILE AT A TIME!
- Windows
- Windows XP a built in ZIP extractor. Double click on the file to open it, inside should be the file or folders needed. Copy these outside to the "My Mods" folder.
- WinRAR: Right click the file, select "Extract Here"
- WinZip: You MUST make sure the option to "Use Folder Names" is CHECKED or it will just extract the files and not make the proper folders how the Authors designed
- Mac Users
- StuffitExpander: Double click the archive to extract it to a folder in the current directory.
- Verify your WoW Installation Path
That is where you are running WoW from and THAT is where you need to install your mods.
- Move to the Addon folder
- Open your World of Warcraft folder. (default is C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\)
- Go into the "Interface" folder.
- Go into the "AddOns" folder.
- In a new window, open the "My Mods" folder.
- The "My Mods" folder should have the "Addonname" folder in it.
- Move the "Addonname" folder into the "AddOns" folder
- Start World of Warcraft
- Make sure AddOns are installed
- Log in
- At the Character Select screen, look in lower left corner for the "addons" button.
- If button is there: make sure all the mods you installed are listed and make sure "load out of date addons" is checked.
- If the button is NOT there: means you did not install the addons properly. Look at the above screenshots. Try repeating the steps or getting someone who knows more about computers than you do to help.
Translations
When you download a mod, please be sure that the mod is compatible with your translation of wow. Some mods only work on the US versions, while some only work on some of the various European versions. These variations are called "Localizations".
TOC Numbers (Out of Date Mods)
When Blizzard patches WoW, they change the Interface number. This means that all mods will be "out of date" unless or until the author releases a new version for that interface. Some people go into the .toc files and update the numbers themselves, but this is STRONGLY advised against as it will cause problems locating possible incompatibilities addons. When you log into WoW after a patch, you DO NOT have to delete your interface directory. All you have to do is simply tell WoW to ignore the interface numbers and load all the mods anyway. All you have to do is, while at the "character select" screen, look in the lower left corner and click on the "addons" button. A window will pop up listing all your installed mods.
If you look in the upper left corner of that window there should be a box that says "Load Out of Date AddOns". You want to CHECK this box. Now simply go into WoW normally and all your mods should load. As of the 1.9 patch, you will have to do this after EVERY patch/update that Blizzard posts! If you encounter any problems with a mod after a patch, please be sure to let the author of the mod know so they can fix it.

Mac Support
WoW addons are not platformed based. As such, they can be used on either Mac or PC. You can extract both .zip and .rar files on a Mac using StuffitExpander.

Starinnia saidSo I'm working on a rewrite of some of the behind the scenes code right now, and as such I was wondering if my users had any feature requests for me. Extra announce options maybe? "Click to announce" on the CD bars? (For that I'm thinking that if you right click a bar it will announce to raid/custom channel the hunter and their current CD)

Baskervore saidQuick question on how it it supposed to work. If I am in a raid and there is a hunter in another group, when he misdirects (but does not have SimpleMD), is my SimpleMD supposed to pick it up and start displaying a cooldown bar for him?

Starinnia saidWell, that really has nothing to do with the addon, I don't hook or interfere with Blizzard functions beyond reading data from them and showing it in a different format. If you both MD the same tank, even at the same time, one of them should hit the tank, and the other MD should fail, giving the error that that buff is already on your target.

Saraus saidThanks, I had contacted a Gm about the problem and as always it wasn't very helpful. I didn't think this mod was the reason anyway, but we had just started using it and hadn't run into this type of problem in the past.
Btw, I find that it is very helpful and is fitting in great with my ui.

iceli saidA nice addon I'd like to keep for gaming... however, i've notice a little problem while misdirecting to another hunter player. Seems both are hunter and both have misdirection as a skill, the message shows that both hunter misdirection to each other and the cooldown bar would turn out wrong as well.
But if misd to players other than hunter, it's works out perfectly!!

Pessismisses saidjust posting to say thanks again for updating and keeping it going great. i had a few bugs in raid tnight, which i figured were from installing scrolling combat text and a few others mods. i got the newest one here, re loaded and bam it's working perfectly again.

im glad you're not adding the threat option. anyone using SMD most likely has omen (or should) and that is all that matters. simple is best and im glad youre trying to keep it that way. clicking the bar to announce the cooldown could be handy in some cases but it's rarely urgent enough to the point where you couldnt just type into party "20 seconds", or something if someone asked what the CD was.
ill be keeping an eye on this mod and updating regularly. thanks again

119136 saidCould a feature be implemented, so that SimpleMD would show how much threat my MD generated for the target. (This would also help tanks a lot too). and it would also be nice to have a macro that would spam the current cooldown into chat when i want it to.

I have been using SimpleMD for some time and it worked perfectly. Now I have a problem with the latest version. It won't broadcast in raid chat. In party chat it's workin fine but in raidchat in won't work. I've tried all the possible broadcast options. Everything is working, sct, rw (only in party) etc. I've also tried to change ouput route to default, chat etc.
I invite a guildmate, convert to raid and then cast misdirect on my pet to test the addon.
Is there anything I forget? Hope someone can help me

Raid broadcast will only work if there are more than five people in the raid with you, otherwise it uses party.

Starinnia saidJust wanted to let everyone know that I am still maintaining the mod, but I've been side-tracked by another project that I'll be finishing soon. And once that project is released and fairly stable, I plan to rewrite the core part of SimpleMD to make is easier to maintain in the future. This will mean a few changes that drastically alter the communications. (In simple terms, the next version posted here will not talk to the older versions, so all users will need to update.)

I think you were using a different mod before. SimpleMD doesn't make macros at all. You can use macros with the mod, but its not required. Were you using Hunter MisdirectionHelper maybe?

Starinnia saidSorry for the two updates in two days. Minimal testing showed the last version to work fine. However, raiding showed massive errors and other bugs. They have all been correct in the most recent Curse release. Please report any further problems in comments or tickets.
