This is not well explained, there are another project that become from the original one, and it's up to date, less than 1 month ago I had downloaded it but now it is missing from the curse addons list...
The polite Whisper is a bit particular addon because it ask ALL the server "if they want to join your party"... some people could think that it is spam.

Just found out its still hosted on Wowinterface. Up to date aswell. I've never had problems with this addon and i've used it since it came out and you can create your own messages so it doesnt look like spam.
and if people don't want you messaging them anymore they can either ignore you or you just add them to the blacklist so the mod doesn't ask anymore.
Its only the people that use it are the spammers. I generally only ask a few people at a time. Whereas some people just spam it until they get a response. I couldn't group without this mod. This is a very fast way to get a group together and manually looking for people in who list is just anoying.

It is just like a telemarketer making cold calls. It IS unwanted no matter how you put it. If someone is looking for a group they will put themselves in the LFG, if someone is selling trade they will post that, if someone wants to give you a port to a city they will offer it up, etc.... see where I am going here. Unwanted communication is just simply unwanted. Please be courteous of others and just don't use that addon.

I disagree with you teek, i don't mind myself being whispered for an instance, even by a mod. It makes life easier using a mod for it infact. Its not something to cry over now is it, and the LFG system is crap, which is why people still ask in trade. I've gotten many groups together with the mod and many kind comments because of the mod, asking me where to get it etc. Telemarketers are only trying to do their jobs, and the mod is trying to do its job by helping the users find people for instances alot quicker and easier.

And for the people who moan about "being whispered" oh woop-di-do. Cry me a river. If people really wanna be that anti-social then perhaps they shouldn't play WoW

I meant no personal offense. You obviously feel very strongly about this. I am just stating an alternative thought about being randomly whispered. Let me give you a scenario: I am in the middle of an intense raid fight trying to monitor too many things at once, including raid chatter, and then BAM "Excuse me please if you don't mind me bothering you but do you have 5 minutes to run me through DM" whisper pops up and takes my attention away from the fight because I have to then think "who is this person, do I know them, are they an alt of my friends, etc...?"
It is just being polite not to randomly ask people. I guess my real issue is the random part of the addon. You say if anyone has an issue they can just ignore you or blacklist you but why should an addon make more work for people who do not even have it installed. i am sure that you also think that I should turn off the other channels while in a raid but again you should not do anything that requires the other person to do more work because of something that you have done. The best solution here is to only allow the random whispers to go to those who only have the addon installed. This allows a sort of 'opt in' feature to the unwanted messaging.
You always need to think about the other people first and yourself secondly. That is a major problem that the younger generations are dealing with, 'thinking of others'. It's all 'me. me, me'.
Anyways, take it or leave it, it is just my OPINION after all and you won;t hear from me again in this thread.

Hey laughing man, yeah you. you're comment:
Let me give you a scenario: I am in the middle of an intense raid fight
trying to monitor too many things at once, including raid chatter, and
then BAM "Excuse me please if you don't mind me bothering you but do
you have 5 minutes to run me through DM" whisper pops up and takes my
attention away from the fight because I have to then think "who is this
person, do I know them, are they an alt of my friends, etc...?"
is spurious. This addon avoids people who are in instances. So at worst you'll bother someone who's fighting a mob or hanging out in the trade channel.

Hey guys. I've maintaned this addon. And it was up to date. I've finished wow, but rethink I gonna start it again. Some inexplicable reason .curse deleted this project. That's why U dont find it any more. I have working version, and going to redesign and recode it. If everything is going well, I'll upload and make a project again on .curse.

It's a bit strange that Curse.com simply erases a project without a notification to the project leader. If it wasn't an accident of some kind, I'm afraid creating a new project will be futile. They will erase it again if they really intended it the first time. ... or they really just stupid and fall for the second. I guess you really should try since there is no word on that from Curse.com itself, so it appears. But I suggest before making a new project, maybe you should ask Curse.com what the hell is actually going on? Apperantly there was some sort of communication breakdown, Muahaha!

Yeah, I think this addon really could be considered as spam. But as longest not too many people use it, this won't escalate and be much of a problem, if any problem at all. Gold Sellers will be forever because they change their names, but my character simply can be put on the ignore list. In case one really gets too annoyed by that.
You must understand that LFG doesn't work so well. That is not because of a technological flaw but because of the people who actually don't know what they want. That's why such an addon does work in the first place. Because you go to them (whisper) and ask whether they are interested or not. And often enough they are even interested and not listed in LFG.
... so it is just foock when people don't know what they want! And it seems, so far, that such an addon really can help.
During my time when I used Polite Whisper Extended. I also made friends. So somethimes it wasn't even required to whisper others because I simply checked out my own friend list first.
