I've been having the same problem ,I even went so far as to reinstall WoW and Curse to no avail.

I just confirmed that it's not a problem with WoW, as I can manually install the addons. But if I try to automatically install them it appears to complete the task but they don't install. So it's definitely an issue with the curse clinet. I've tried running it both regularly and as an administrator.

i knew i never should have installed this garbage.

Same problem.  Tried to make it non-read only, no avail. Reinstalled curse, nothing.

Report this thread post

If you check the wow\interface\addons directory - are the addons actually there?

We are aware of an issue where if the client is unable to write to the folders, it still enters them into the database without an error. In the next release we've added additional error detection for this case.

Report this thread post

Yea, this is the case.  Says its installed, but writes nothing.

Thanks for the feedback toaster9123,

It definitely sounds like a permissions problem. I'll see about bumping the schedule up to get the 3.0.0.8 client out soon for better reporting of the specific problem.

I think I have the same problem. Uninstalled all addons, uninstaled Curse Client, then installed it again as well as the addons. After the start of WoW the Addon-Button doesn´t show up. Can´t see the Addons in the WoW/Interface/Addons-folder either.

This is what the log file says...

Tue Jun 16 17:49:49 2009> [Addon Installer] Installing : Recount
Tue Jun 16 17:49:49 2009> [Manage Addons Panel] Rebuilding Packages
Tue Jun 16 17:50:28 2009> [WarcraftManager] Non-200 response received: 400
Tue Jun 16 17:50:28 2009> [WarcraftManager] Warcraft Extension hash couldn't be retrieved.

Is there something I can do to make this work again?

Report this thread post

apm5150,

The "warcraft extension hash couldn't be retrieved" is related to the curse profiler and shouldn't affect your addon installation itself.

Are you still having issues updating addons if you run the client as administrator?

Report this thread post

I am quite sure that I am running the client as admin, as I am the only user on that PC...

Yeah, I've had the same problem too. I'm using a new and update install of WoW and I used a fresh install of the Curse Client. The mods appear to have installed (through the curse client) but when I browse to the C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\Addons there's nothing in there but blizzard files. I've confirmed that the Curse client has the correct file directroy for world of Warcraft (not pointing to the addons folder but the WoW folder itself as the client manager says i.e. C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft). I've also browsed to the Curse client folder in the Program Files and there aren't any addons in there so they're not getting installed to the cursed folder, just the normal client files are there.

I'm running XP pro, and it's strange because I've used cursed before and I've never had this problem.

Thanks for the feedback all,

It is possible to be the only user of a machine and not be running with Administrator priveleges, however we've had reports of addons not actually installing even if they appear in the installed list.

The 3.0.0.8 client has two changes to help with this - better logging of such errors and extended character support. While there can be many reasons for the client not to be able to install the addons, the changes should help in resolving why.

I just installed procmon to test this, i 2 have this issue, even after running the client as administrator (right click runs as administrator) the cuse client downloads the files and writes the zip 2 a temp location and unpackes the file, the client then stops there and does not even attempt to write the files anywhere else to the file system.

Report this thread post

ractre,

It sounds like your login, connection, request, download, and unpacking are all working correctly. The last stage error of copying it into your wow\interface\addons folders is likely a permissions problem. Please check the permissions of your addons directory to make sure the client is able to write to it.

erm NeedHelpFast here, forgot the pass >.<

anyway i have to comps (vista and 2000) and it wont work on the 2000 but it will on vista. vista is newer (i got it a few weeks ago) and its faster, so i mostly use that. but Curse isnt working on the 2000. *cries* And ive tried WowMatrix, that didnt work on 2000, and Curse, and you know that it doesnt work either.

so next time i update Curse, it SHOULD send the addons to C;/LocalDisk/ProgramFiles/WorldofWarcraft/Interface/Addons (sorry for long thingy (zomg thats what she said xD)) ?

HOWEVER! i DID install ONE ADDON while Curse wasnt working on the 2000, the addon is something of Titan Panel extras, but none of the actual titan panel. so it says dependancy missing. *cries*

thanks for what youve said so far, forum (should i call em GMs? i will) GMs.

NeedHelpFast2,

The directory you stated is probably similar, the most dependable way is to use browse in the manage games setup to select the location. Be sure to selection World of Warcraft though, without the interface\addons after it.

Once installed there can be permissions issues depending on how windows and accounts are configured. One way to resolve it is to run the app as administrator, or at least to make sure the user you run it as has sufficient privileges to write to your wow\interface\addons directory.

and while your at it make sure you guys investigate why the curse client takes so long to extrat an addon after it downloads it. The curse cleint extration process on brand new OS installations with full admin permissions to all folders is unacceptable. Its way too slow to extract addons.

Report this thread post

Thank you for the feedback passionh,

We've received reports that the extraction is unusually long on some systems. If you could, please provide information on what OS you are experience this issue with.

I'm having same problem with curse client

It was working fine before, but now addons are not instaled anymore by the client.

I don't know if its a coincidence, but the problem started the day after I upgraded Internet Exporer to version 8.0...
