.psyn association error.

Yep. I've seen it's been posted about before.

"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (psyn) isn't associated with any program." pops up if I click on Install Via Curse Client on Curse.com.

But all the other posts I found didn't help, because:

A) Mostly it was just people who didn't have the Curse Client installed, followed by people replying "Install the client, n00b."

I've installed the friggin' client, thankyouverymuch. Try again.

B) If the thread gets beyond that, the only other solution I've seen mentioned is to uninstall & reinstall the client. I've done that already. A few times.

Searching, installing and updating through the client works just fine, it's just when I go through the website.

Hi midnightlynx,

If reinstalling didn't fix it - can you open y our registry viewer (hit the windows key then type in regedit).

Please either do a search for "psyn" or go to the key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\psyn\shell\open\command

That will point to the executable that should be used to process psyn requests. It should be set to the curseclient at the location you installed it.

Not sure how much this will help besides what Llama said, but you can try it. I'm at work, so going from memory here: either Tools.. Options or Manage Games at the left has a box that indicates allowing addons to be installed via the website. Make sure that is ticked.

Exactly what I was looking for, Llama. Thank you!

A search didn't find 'psyn' anywhere in the registry, and there's no Wow6432Node directory in HKCR.

I'm attempting to manually create it. My registry editing knowledge is only so-so, so I've gotten as far as creating all the directories, but what do I put in as the string values?

It was ticked, myrroddin. But thanks for pointing it out, I hadn't noticed that option before.

Midnightlynx,

Please also try unchecking that box, saving, then rechecking and saving again.

To manually create the key, open regedit and create a key here:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\psyn\shell\open\command

Name: (Default)

Type: REG_SZ

Data: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Curse\CurseClient.exe" -url "%1"

Where it points to the .exe on your location machine.

I did both of those, and I still get the same error.

if you were missing that entry and tried installing addons from firefox without the entry, open firefox and go to tools -> options -> applications and scroll down to psyn and make sure it says Use: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Curse\CurseClient.exe" -url "%1"

mine just said "Curse.exe" and when I clicked the dropdown after updating the reigstry,

Use: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Curse\CurseClient.exe" -url "%1" was lsited and selecting that fixed it for me..
