I cant get it to work....Or is it not suppose to work?

Curse is a website... there is a Curse client which is simply an addon downloading assistant... It is not an in-game addon.

Does the curse client work for blizz servers. Because I have it on and the addons arent working..

It is merely a client... You still need to go and enable the addons assuming you've done it correctly... I don't use the Client so I'm a bit at a loss in helping you on how to configure it correctly.

Curse Client works independently of the game. You install it just like any program and then run it separately. When you download the curseclient there are instructions on how to install it. If you have followed those directions then I don't know why you would have a problem. The purpose of it is to make sure all of your addons are up-to-date. If you have curse client installed as per instructions and all your addons are already loaded and working in WoW then it shouldn't give you any issues. I am not sure I understand your problem but I hope that helped.
