Client failing to initialize after login [Solved]

Wierd issue that popped up just recently out of blue for me... After launching the client and signing in, I am greeted by an entirely blank window with only the menu bar and the status bar at the bottom of the window, no tabs, no addons, nothing. The menu works uptil checking for addon updates where I recieve "You must login to check for addon updates." However, I am recieving "[2799536] Logged in : BlackWyvern : Regular" in the status bar. Reinstallation did not solve the issue, nor has manually going to file -> Login, which is strange to see, considering it's saying I'm already logged in.

Additionally, the command "Push Game Profile Data" causes a near crash (Program Not-Responding) and all commands in the Help menu are non-functional.

Any support would be appreciated.

Hi BlackWyvern,

 

While rare, I've seen a couple other tickets with this issue. I suspect it is related to either a network or video card issue, but have no proof of that. Could you state what those two are?

Well, got a new development. I launched the program this morning and got a new error.

<drive>/Program Files/Curse/CurseClientUpdater.exe
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

The curse client was unable to find it's auto-updated application. To properly update the client we will try to download a new installer for you by launching your default web browser. Once downloaded simply run the installer to update the client.

So given this, I downloaded a new installation .exe and reinstalled again, but when I checked to see if that fixed it, I recieved the same error, this time saying:
The updater ran with invalid arguments.

Today suddenlly message poped up that Curse client stopped to function and needs to close. Afte that i saw that is doing update. Now when I click on Curse.exe file, nothing happens. When i click updater i get this message: "The updater ran with invalid arguments."

Right now I can't start it.

Successfully downgraded to .7 thinking it may have been causing my issue, as .7 functioned properly for me, however, upon launching this new client...

Grey screen with no functionality. Problem remains. Still says I'm logged in, but will not allow me to log in, nor will it show addons.

Edit:

Removed the C:\..\App Data reference for Curse to see if some of the files in there werent doing something, but no effect. 1247002299 and master recreated on app launch.

Re-edit:

On furthur investigation, I've found that the Defence+ functionality of COMODO is blocking Curse, it's treating it as a non-trusted application. This may me something to keep in mind for other similar problems. For some reason, the program was set in the 'Computer Security Policy' area of the advanced Defence+ configuration as an Isolated Application. In order to function correctly, it needs to be set as a 'Trusted Application' in this window.

Now I am getting the same issue. But I don't have avast! insetad of COMODO... but I can't find anything relating to the Curse Client related anywhere. And it says at the bottom I am logged in as well but can't do anything. I can goto the menu, and login again only to get the same grey screen.

Try updating to version 4 of the client.  Links are on CurseForge/WowAce.
