Note from Curse
Please uninstall 3.0.0.8 and install 3.0.0.7 (http://curseclient.curse.com/3.0.0.7/CurseSetup-3.0.0.7.exe) until this issue is resolved. We've rolled-back the required update. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
My Curse Client has updated itself from 3.0.0.7 to 3.0.0.8 but the new one refuses to start. I have tried to reinstall it, but client still does not want to start on my Vista (Home Premium SP1 32bit) at all. When I try to go back to 3.0.0.7 it will start, but it will immediately update itself to the latest version which does not work for me.
What do I do? As I pay for premium account I'm really not happy with it. :(

Ok, I have managed to succesfully "downgrade" client to prevously working version 3.0.0.7 (I had to disconnect computer from internet, disable automatic updates and then connect back again). Let me know if you will make a new version which works with Vista.

Mine just updated itself as well today. On my computer with Windows 7 it still works fine, but on my XP machine I seem to be having the same problem as you. It simply won't start. I get no error or anything. I decided to uninstall the client on the XP machine, which seemed to still be version 3.0.0.7 according to the uninstaller (obviously the update didn't do it's job for some reason). I then manually downloaded and installed 3.0.0.8 from the Curse.com website. It still doesn't start. Remembering I chose not to remove my personal information during the uninstall I uninstalled again, this time removing my personal data as well by clicking yes when asked to do this (the uninstaller said 3.0.0.8 this time). Then I rebooted my computer to be on the safe side, after which I redownloaded and once again installed 3.0.0.8 from Curse.com. Guess what? It still doesn't work. Still no error. Still nothing.
Here's some additional info of my two set-ups:
Curse Client working:
Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 64bit
Asus P6T Deluxe (v1), Intel i7, Corsair DDR3 RAM, Asus GTX260 (the new version), X-Fi Platinum
Curse Client NOT working:
Windows XP Professional SP3 32bit
Asus Motherboard (haven't got exact model id at hand), AMD Athlon X2 4400+, Corsair DDR RAM, Asus Fanless nVidia 7300, Onboard Audio
I've also tried disabling the Firewall on the XP machine without success.

Could this be an Internet Explorer issue (i know it needs some IE resources to run on Linux since my friend is running it in Wine)? Since I am running Firefox as my main browser I have not bothered to check for updates for Internet Explorer in some time on the XP computer.

Today suddenlly message poped
up that Curse client stopped to function and needs to close. After that i saw
that its doing update. Now when I click on Curse.exe file, nothing happens. When
i click updater i get this message: "The updater ran with invalid
arguments."
Right now I can't start it.
I'm using Windows XP Professional SP3 32bit.

Even worst. I cannot persuade version 3.0.0.7 to do not update. :-( Is there any command line switch for that?

I have the same problem, was going to check for updates when CurseClient suddenly closes down, my guess a new update, started it again but it didn't, reinstalled it twice, logged out once and couldn't find it on the ctrl-alt-delete log either.
I'm using Windows XP Home 32bit.

I wonder what the common connection is, because it works fine on all 3 of my boxes. Vista Ultimate x64 SP2, Vista Home x86 SP2 and XP Pro x86 SP3. Still where the hell is curse on this if so many people are having problems... At least some confirmation they noticed its messed up.

I'm looking into this right now trying to determine what could be causing this.

Curse Client 3.0.0.8 issue summary:
The two top errors appear to be: "Client will not start" and "The updater ran with invalid arguments."
Problem scope: * Vista and XP, 32/64-bit, 2008 server I do not see any Windows 7 report. * Premium and non-premium * Updating automatically and manual update, even with reinstall
I've tested the 3.0.0.8 client under: * Local dev machine - vista 64-bit * Test machine - XP 32 bit * Test machine - Vista 64-bit * Test machine - Windows 7 build 7100
All worked as expected. I did notice the updater lagged a little before doing the update, but it went through for each.
It would help if users experiencing this problem could post the tail end of the CurseClient.log file (usually under something like /users/<username>/appdata/local/CurseClient/CurseClient.log) which may contain errors to help track down this issue.

I'm having the exact same problem with Windows 7 64-bit RC1 (Build 7100).
Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [CoreManager] Starting client. Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Startup] Vista detected. Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [UAC] nTokenElevationTypeLimited - User has a split token, but the process is not running elevated. Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Utility] Closing handle. Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Startup] Process elevation tested... Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Startup] Process is not elevated, but it does not appear to need elevation to function. Tue Jul 07 17:15:52 2009> [Startup] App started.
It was at this point the Curse Client did not start, and every time I try to start it after that, it only says:
Tue Jul 07 17:16:05 2009> [CoreManager] Starting client.
Once for each time I've tried to start the Curse Client.

Hi guys, we're going to be allowing people to roll back to 3.0.0.7 until we have a patch. Any information you can provide about the issues would be much appreciated, and we apologize for any problems experienced.

We appreciate the feedback,
However it would greatly help if users experiencing this problem could post the tail
end of their CurseClient.log file (usually under something like
/users/<username>/appdata/local/CurseClient/CurseClient.log)
which may contain errors to help track down this issue.
At this point we know there is an error, but very little about specifics. Log file information would greatly help

The whole path depends on the username you created/login to your computer with. Please try navigating to your users folder, then username, then appdata/local/CurseClient
So if your login to your local computer was DEEPBLUELIGHT, then your path would likely be:
(drive)/users/DEEPBLUELIGHT/appdata/local/CurseClient/CurseClient.log
