jonseyh09 Premium Posts 13	Okay here's my problem....Curse (which was designed to automatically install addons) ISN'T AUTOMATICALLY INSTALLING ADDONS ANYMORE! I click the "Install with Curse" link on any addon on the site and it says its being downloaded & installed and shows up as such in Curse's list of installed addons, but there are no files physically copied to my machine. So I figure its gotta be this new FireFox 3.5 and go into Curse itself to search for Addons and try that way. Same result. It says downloading, then extracting, then installing but no new files are put into my Addons folder Running Vista Ultimate 32-bit SP2 Curse Client 3.0.0.7

End result-it is as if the add-on has been uninstalled and not updated. So brief recap here: Curse Client won't download and install (any new) addons or properly update existing ones for me. However it seems to have no problem removing addons or uninstalling and reinstalling itself whenever I tell it to, not that that has fixed anything ><

llamabark Curse Posts 347	jonseyh09, I'll keep trying to help diagnose this. I don't see any noticeable errors in the log, so: * The path name doesn't have special characters - so that isn't the issue * The permissions you quoted should work - so in theory it has write permissions That leads me to believe either the folder isn't pointed to correctly, or there is a more subtle permissions issue perhaps from inherited permissions from higher level folders.

jonseyh09 Premium Posts 13	Okay this is where it started....quite a while back I was forcibly upgraded to 3.0.8 (which as we all know has some serious issues). After I hopped on the forums here and found out about the myriad of issues with it I was able to down-grade as this is one of the problems that was reported in 3.0.8, but the problem has never gone away. Also in regards to the inheritable permissions, that is always possible, but I had tried to avoid it by placing WoW in the C:/ drive directly instead of the Users folder. I hope this helps as it took me some time to back-track and remember all of this from the past month or so.

jonseyh09 Premium Posts 13	UPDATE: After completely uninstalling Curse and WoW, manually hard-deleting the WoW folder in Code: c:\World of Warcraft and then rebooting the machine and then finally after all that doing a full reinstall of first WoW and then Curse the problem still remains....WTF?!

apollopaladi Premium Posts 64	how come everyone say vista's defaul is C:\Users etc etc? Its not. Get it right. Program files has been and always be the default for windows. The directory listed a few posts above doesnt even exist for me.

The directory listed a few posts above doesnt even exist for me. apollopaladi, Blizzard some time ago moved the default location for Vista from "C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft" to "C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft". This was done because of the issues with Vista's UAC. Now of course just as any other Windows programs you have the option to install wow where ever you like, but the default is in the "C:\Users\Public\Games\" because it is not controlled by UAC. Here's a link to a Blizzard Support Article telling users how to remove their WTF, Cache and Interface folders and if you look Blizzard directs you to "C:\Users\Public\Games\" to find those folders in vista.
